“What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothes? See, those who wear soft clothes are in royal palaces.
“What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
“For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see the things you see but didn't see them, to hear the things you hear but didn't hear them.
Peter was following him at a distance right to the high priest's courtyard. He went in and was sitting with the servants to see the outcome.
The men who tended them ran off and reported it in the town and the countryside, and people went to see what had happened.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he saw the Lord's Messiah.
“What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothes? See, those who are splendidly dressed and live in luxury are in royal palaces.
“What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
Then people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man the demons had departed from, sitting at Jesus's feet, dressed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
“I beheaded John,” Herod said, “but who is this I hear such things about? ” And he wanted to see him.
“For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn't see them; to hear the things you hear but didn't hear them.”
“But without exception[fn] they all began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. I ask you to excuse me.'
Then he told the disciples, “The days are coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you won't see it.
He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was not able because of the crowd, since he was a short man.
Herod was very glad to see Jesus; for a long time he had wanted to see him because he had heard about him and was hoping to see some miracle[fn] performed by him.
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again,[fn] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
So they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested of him, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”
“Therefore he also says in another passage, You will not let your Holy One see decay.
After these events, Paul resolved by the Spirit[fn] to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem. “After I've been there,” he said, “It is necessary for me to see Rome as well.”
“And he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the words from his mouth,
“and saw him telling me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.'
“For this reason I've asked to see you and speak to you. In fact, it is for the hope of Israel that I'm wearing this chain.”
For I want very much to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you,
I don't want to see you now just in passing, since I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.
But as for us, brothers and sisters, after we were forced to leave you[fn] for a short time (in person, not in heart), we greatly desired and made every effort to return and see you face to face.
But now Timothy has come to us from you and brought us good news about your faith and love. He reported that you always have good memories of us and that you long to see us, as we also long to see you.
as we pray very earnestly night and day to see you face to face and to complete what is lacking in your faith?
who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see, to him be honor and eternal power. Amen.
By faith Enoch was taken away, and so he did not experience death. He was not to be found because God took him away. For before he was taken away, he was approved as one who pleased God.
For the one who wants to love life
and to see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit,
