and also Mizpah,[fn] for he said, “May the LORD watch between you and me when we are out of each other's sight.
The king of Egypt's cupbearer and baker, who were confined in the prison, each had a dream. Both had a dream on the same night, and each dream had its own meaning.
Then the woman went and told her husband, “A man of God came to me. He looked like the awe-inspiring angel of God. I didn't ask him where he came from, and he didn't tell me his name.
The boy Samuel served the LORD in Eli's presence. In those days the word of the LORD was rare and prophetic visions were not widespread.

A pronouncement concerning Egypt:
Look, the LORD rides on a swift cloud
and is coming to Egypt.
Egypt's worthless idols will tremble before him,
and Egypt will lose heart.
A pronouncement concerning the animals of the Negev:[fn]
Through a land of trouble and distress,
of lioness and lion,
of viper and flying serpent,
they carry their wealth on the backs of donkeys
and their treasures on the humps of camels,
to a people who will not help them.
I looked, and there was a whirlwind coming from the north, a huge cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire, there was a gleam like amber.
The likeness of four living creatures came from it, and this was their appearance: They looked something like a human,
The likeness of the living creatures was like the appearance of blazing coals of fire or like torches. Fire was moving back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, with lightning coming out of it.
Over the heads of the living creatures the likeness of an expanse was spread out. It gleamed like awe-inspiring crystal,
Something like a throne with the appearance of lapis lazuli was above the expanse over their heads. On the throne, high above, was someone who looked like a human.
The appearance of the brilliant light all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the LORD's glory. When I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.
So I got up and went out to the plain. The LORD's glory was present there, like the glory I had seen by the Chebar Canal, and I fell facedown.
Disaster after disaster will come,
and there will be rumor after rumor.
Then they will look for a vision from a prophet,
but instruction will perish from the priests
and counsel from the elders.
I looked, and there was someone who looked like a man.[fn] From what seemed to be his waist down was fire, and from his waist up was something that looked bright, like the gleam of amber.
“Son of man, what is this proverb you people have about the land of Israel, which goes, ‘The days keep passing by, and every vision fails'?
“For there will no longer be any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.
“Son of man, notice that the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees concerns many years from now; he prophesies about distant times.'
He brought me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze, with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand. He was standing by the city gate.
The doorposts of the great hall were square, and the front of the sanctuary had the same appearance.
The vision I saw was like the one I had seen when he[fn] came to destroy the city, and like the ones I had seen by the Chebar Canal. I fell facedown.
“Your Majesty, as you were watching, suddenly a colossal statue appeared. That statue, tall and dazzling, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was terrifying.
He exclaimed, “Look! I see four men, not tied, walking around in the fire unharmed; and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”[fn]
“I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about the other horn that came up, before which three fell — the horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke arrogantly, and that looked bigger than the others.
In the third year of King Belshazzar's reign, a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had appeared to me earlier.
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the speaker, “How long will the events of this vision last — the regular sacrifice, the rebellion that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and of the army to be trampled? ”
While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there stood before me someone who appeared to be a man.
So he approached where I was standing; when he came near, I was terrified and fell facedown. “Son of man,” he said to me, “understand that the vision refers to the time of the end.”
and said, “I am here to tell you what will happen at the conclusion of the time of wrath, because it refers to the appointed time of the end.
“The vision of the evenings and the mornings
that has been told is true.
Now you are to seal up the vision
because it refers to many days in the future.”
His body was like beryl,[fn] his face like the brilliance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude.
“Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the last days, for the vision refers to those days.”
The vision of Obadiah.
This is what the Lord GOD has said about Edom:
We have heard a message from the LORD;
an envoy has been sent among the nations:
“Rise up, and let's go to war against her.”[fn]
The chariots dash madly through the streets;
they rush around in the plazas.
They look like torches;
they dart back and forth like lightning.
