δεσμός, -οῦ, , (δέω) [from Homer down], a band or bond: Mark 7:35 (ἐλύθη δεσμὸς τῆς γλώσσης αὐτοῦ, i. e. the impediment in his speech was removed); Luke 13:16 (λυθῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ δεσμοῦ, of a woman bowed together, held fast as it were by a bond).
