Then Jesus told him, “See that you don’t tell anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

“how he entered the house of God, and they ate[fn] the bread of the Presence ​— ​which is not lawful for him or for those with him to eat, but only for the priests?

telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”[fn]

“how he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest and ate the bread of the Presence ​— ​which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests ​— ​and also gave some to his companions? ”

In the days of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest of Abijah’s division named Zechariah. His wife was from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

Now if perfection came through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to appear, said to be according to the order of Melchizedek and not according to the order of Aaron?

Now it is evident that our Lord came from Judah, and Moses said nothing about that tribe concerning priests.

For it has been testified:

You are a priest forever

according to the order of Melchizedek.

but he became a priest with an oath made by the one who said to him:

The Lord has sworn

and will not change his mind,

“You are a priest forever.”

Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office.

Now if he were on earth, he wouldn’t be a priest, since there are those[fn] offering the gifts prescribed by the law.

With these things prepared like this, the priests enter the first room repeatedly, performing their ministry.

Every priest stands day after day ministering and offering the same sacrifices time after time, which can never take away sins.

and since we have a great high priest over the house of God,

and made us a kingdom,[fn] priests[fn] to his God and Father ​— ​to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

You made them a kingdom[fn]

and priests to our God,

and they will reign on the earth.

Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power[fn] over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
