“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill what he has spoken to her! ”
Then her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her his great mercy, and they rejoiced with her.
All who heard about him took it to heart, saying, “What then will this child become? ” For, indeed, the Lord’s hand was with him.
Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has visited
and provided redemption for his people.
And you, child, will be called
a prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord
to prepare his ways,
Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.[fn]

He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and “your neighbor as yourself.”
But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.”[fn]
The Lord[fn] answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things,
He was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and sensible manager his master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their allotted food at the proper time?
“But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and starts to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,
“And that servant who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it[fn] will be severely beaten.
“But he replied to him, ‘Sir,[fn] leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
