This was not made known to people[fn] in other generations as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light ​— ​

because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.

instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age,

and subjected everything under his feet.

For in subjecting everything to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subjected to him.

The cherubim of glory were above the ark overshadowing the mercy seat. It is not possible to speak about these things in detail right now.

By the same word, the present heavens and earth are stored up for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Children, it is the last hour. And as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. By this we know that it is the last hour.

Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when he appears,[fn] we will be like him because we will see him as he is.

but every spirit that does not confess Jesus[fn] is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming; even now it is already in the world.

So now I ask you, dear lady ​— ​not as if I were writing you a new command, but one we have had from the beginning ​— ​that we love one another.

to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord,[fn] be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time,[fn] now and forever. Amen.
