While he[fn] was holding on to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astonished, ran toward them in what is called Solomon’s Colonnade.
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: “Fellow Israelites, why are you amazed at this? Why do you stare at us, as though we had made him walk by our own power or godliness?
Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders:[fn]
When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.
Peter and John answered them, “Whether it’s right in the sight of God for us to listen to you rather than to God, you decide;
“Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land?
“Tell me,” Peter asked her, “did you sell the land for this price? ”
“Yes,” she said, “for that price.”
Then Peter said to her, “Why did you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
As a result, they would carry the sick out into the streets and lay them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them.
When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.
But Peter told him, “May your silver be destroyed with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
As Peter was traveling from place to place, he also came down to the saints who lived in Lydda.
Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed,”[fn] and immediately he got up.
Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to him who urged him, “Don’t delay in coming with us.”
Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him to the room upstairs. And all the widows approached him, weeping and showing him the robes and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was with them.
Peter sent them all out of the room. He knelt down, prayed, and turning toward the body said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up.
The next day, as they were traveling and nearing the city, Peter went up to pray on the roof about noon.[fn]
“No, Lord! ” Peter said. “For I have never eaten anything impure and ritually unclean.”
While Peter was deeply perplexed about what the vision he had seen might mean, right away the men who had been sent by Cornelius, having asked directions to Simon’s house, stood at the gate.
While Peter was thinking about the vision, the Spirit told him, “Three men are here looking for you.
Then Peter went down to the men and said, “Here I am, the one you’re looking for. What is the reason you’re here? ”
“Therefore send someone to Joppa and invite Simon here, who is also named Peter. He is lodging in Simon the tanner’s house by the sea.’[fn]

The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were amazed because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.

Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. Striking Peter on the side, he woke him up and said, “Quick, get up! ” And the chains fell off his wrists.
When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s grasp and from all that the Jewish people expected.”
She recognized Peter’s voice, and because of her joy, she did not open the gate but ran in and announced that Peter was standing at the outer gate.
Peter, however, kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.
At daylight, there was a great commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.
After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you are aware that in the early days God made a choice among you,[fn] that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the gospel message and believe.
On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter was for the circumcised,
since the one at work in Peter for an apostleship to the circumcised was also at work in me for the Gentiles.
