As he began his ministry, Jesus was about thirty years old and was thought to be the
son of Joseph, son of Heli,
Jesus answered them, “Haven’t you read what David and those who were with him did when he was hungry —
A woman suffering from bleeding for twelve years, who had spent all she had on doctors[fn] and yet could not be healed by any,
“Anyone who is not with me is against me, and anyone who does not gather with me scatters.
“If that’s how God clothes the grass, which is in the field today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much more will he do for you — you of little faith?
“Satan has bound this woman, a daughter of Abraham, for eighteen years — shouldn’t she be untied from this bondage[fn] on the Sabbath day? ”
“If not, while the other is still far off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace.
“For they can no longer die, because they are like angels and are children of God, since they are children of the resurrection.

Finding that he was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.
That very day Herod and Pilate became friends.[fn] Previously, they had been enemies.
