Solomon Made King over Israel

1 Now David ^H1732 became ^H2204 old ^H2204 and full ^H7646 of days ^H3117, and he made ^H4427 his son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010 king ^H4427 over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478.

2 And he gathered ^H622 together all ^H3605 the leaders ^H8269 of Israel ^H3478 with the priests ^H3548 and the Levites ^H3881.

The Work of the Levites

3 And the Levites ^H3881 were numbered ^H5608 from thirty ^H7970 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605, and their number ^H4557 by [fn]census ^H1538 of men ^H1397 was 38,000 ^{H7970 H8083 H505}. 4 Of these ^H428, 24,000 ^{H702 H6242 H505} were to direct ^H5329 the work ^H4399 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068; and 6,000 ^H8337 H505 were officers ^H7860 and judges ^H8199, 5 and 4,000 ^H702 H505 were gatekeepers ^H7778, and 4,000 ^H702 H505 were praising ^H1984 Yahweh ^H3068 with the instruments ^H3627 which ^H834 [fn]David made ^H6213 for giving ^H1984 praise ^H1984. 6 And David ^H1732 divided ^H2505 them into divisions ^H4256 according to the sons ^H1121 of Levi ^H3878: Gershon ^H1648, Kohath ^H6955, and Merari ^H4847.

The Sons of Gershon

7 Of the Gershonites ^H1649 were [fn]Ladan ^H3936 and Shimei ^H8096.

8 The sons ^H1121 of Ladan ^H3936 were Jehiel ^H3171 the first ^H7218 and Zetham ^H2241 and Joel ^H3100, three ^H7969.

9 The sons ^H1121 of Shimei ^H8096 were Shelomoth ^H8013 and Haziel ^H2381 and Haran ^H2039, three ^H7969.

These ^H428 were the heads ^H7218 of the fathers’ ^H1 households of Ladan ^H3936.

10 The sons ^H1121 of Shimei ^H8096 were Jahath ^H3189, [fn]Zina ^H2126, Jeush ^H3266, and Beriah ^H1283.

These ^H428 four ^H702 were the sons ^H1121 of Shimei ^H8096.

11 Jahath ^H3189 was the first ^H7218 and Zizah ^H2125 the second ^H8145; but Jeush ^H3266 and Beriah ^H1283 did not have ^H7235 many ^H7235 sons ^H1121, so they became ^H1961 a father’s ^H1 household ^H1004, one ^H259 [fn]unit ^H6486.

The Sons of Kohath

12 The sons ^H1121 of Kohath ^H6955: Amram ^H6019, Izhar ^H3324, Hebron ^H2275, and Uzziel ^H5816, four ^H702.

13 The sons ^H1121 of Amram ^H6019 were Aaron ^H175 and Moses ^H4872. And Aaron ^H175 was separated ^H914 in order to sanctify ^H6942 him as most ^H6944 holy ^H6944, he and his sons ^H1121 forever ^H5704 H5769, to offer ^H6999 offerings up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068, to minister ^H8334 to Him and to bless ^H1288 in His name ^H8034 forever ^H5704 H5769.

15 The sons ^H1121 of Moses ^H4872 were Gershom ^H1647 and Eliezer ^H461.

17 The [fn]son ^H1121 of Eliezer ^H461 was Rehabiah ^H7345 the chief ^H7218; and Eliezer ^H461 had ^H1961 no ^H3808 other ^H312 sons ^H1121, but the sons ^H1121 of Rehabiah ^H7345 were ^H7235 very ^H4605 many ^H7235.

18 The [fn]son ^H1121 of Izhar ^H3324 was [fn]Shelomith ^H8019 the chief ^H7218.

19 The sons ^H1121 of Hebron ^H2275 were Jeriah ^H3404 the first ^H7218, Amariah ^H568 the second ^H8145, Jahaziel ^H3166 the third ^H7992 and Jekameam ^H3360 the fourth ^H7243.

20 The sons ^H1121 of Uzziel ^H5816 were Micah ^H4318 the first ^H7218 and Isshiah ^H3449 the second ^H8145.

The Sons of Merari

21 The sons ^H1121 of Merari ^H4847 were Mahli ^H4249 and Mushi ^H4187. The sons ^H1121 of Mahli ^H4249 were Eleazar ^H499 and Kish ^H7027.

22 And Eleazar ^H499 died ^H4191 and had ^H1961 no ^H3808 sons ^H1121, but daughters ^H1323 only ^H518, so their brothers ^H251, the sons ^H1121 of Kish ^H7027, took ^H5375 them up ^H5375 as wives.

23 The sons ^H1121 of Mushi ^H4187: Mahli ^H4249, Eder ^H5740, and Jeremoth ^H3406, three ^H7969.

The Service of the Levites

24 These ^H428 were the sons ^H1121 of Levi ^H3878 according to their fathers’ ^H1 households ^H1004, even the heads ^H7218 of the fathers’ ^H1 households of those of them who were [fn]counted ^H6485, in the number ^H4557 of names ^H8034 by their [fn]census ^H1538, doing ^H6213 the work ^H4399 for the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, from twenty ^H6242 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605.

25 For David ^H1732 said ^H559, “Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, has given ^H5117 rest ^H5117 to His people ^H5971, and He dwells ^H7931 in Jerusalem ^H3389 forever ^H5704 H5769. 26 Also ^H1571, the Levites ^H3881 will no ^H369 longer need to carry ^H5375 the tabernacle ^H4908 and all ^H3605 its furnishings ^H3627 for its service ^H5656.” 27 For by the last ^H314 words ^H1697 of David ^H1732 the sons ^H1121 of Levi ^H3878 were numbered ^H4557 from twenty ^H6242 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605. 28 For their station ^H4612 is to be on hand ^H3027 for the sons ^H1121 of Aaron ^H175 with the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, in the courts ^H2691 and in the chambers ^H3957 and in the cleansing ^H2893 of all ^H3605 holy ^H6944 things ^H6944, even the work ^H4639 of the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of God ^H430, 29 and with the showbread ^H3899 H4635, and the fine ^H5560 flour ^H5560 for a grain offering ^H4503, and unleavened ^H4682 wafers ^H7550, or what is made on the griddle ^H4227, or what is well stirred ^H7246, and all ^H3605 measures ^H4060 of volume ^H4884 and size ^H4060. 30 And they are to stand ^H5975 every ^H1242 morning ^H1242 to thank ^H3034 and to praise ^H1984 Yahweh ^H3068, and likewise ^H3651 at evening ^H6153, 31 and to offer ^H5927 all ^H3605 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 to Yahweh ^H3068, on the sabbaths ^H7676, the new ^H2320 moons ^H2320 and the appointed ^H4150 times ^H4150 in the number ^H4557 set by the judgments ^H4941 concerning ^H5921 them, continually ^H8548 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068. 32 Thus they shall keep ^H8104 responsibility ^H4931 of the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150, and responsibility ^H4931 of the holy ^H6944 place, and responsibility ^H4931 of the sons ^H1121 of Aaron ^H175 their [fn]relatives ^H251, for the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068.
