Jesus Christ Our Advocate

1 My little ^G5040 children ^G5040, I am writing ^G1125 these ^G3778 things ^G3778 to you so ^G2443 that you may not sin ^G264. And if ^G1437 anyone ^G5100 sins ^G264, we have ^G2192 an [fn]Advocate ^G3875 with the Father ^G3962, Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547 the righteous ^G1342;

2 and He Himself ^G846 is the [fn]propitiation ^G2434 for our sins ^G266, and not for ours ^G2251 only ^G3440, but also ^G2532 for those of the whole ^G3650 world ^G2889.

3 And by this ^G3778 we know ^G1097 that we have come to know ^G1097 Him, if ^G1437 we keep ^G5083 His commandments ^G1785. 4 The one who says ^G3004, “I have come to know ^G1097 Him,” and does not keep ^G5083 His commandments ^G1785, is a liar ^G5583, and the truth ^G225 is not in him; 5 but whoever ^G3739 G302 keeps ^G5083 His word ^G3056, truly ^G230 in him the love ^G26 of God ^G2316 has been perfected ^G5048. Do Not Love the World

15 Do not love ^G25 the world ^G2889 nor ^G3366 the things in the world ^G2889. If ^G1437 anyone ^G5100 loves ^G25 the world ^G2889, the love ^G26 of the Father ^G3962 is not in him.

16 For all ^G3956 that is in the world ^G2889, the lust ^G1939 of the flesh ^G4561 and the lust ^G1939 of the eyes ^G3788 and the boastful ^G212 pride ^G212 of life ^G979, is not from the Father ^G3962, but is from the world ^G2889. 17 And the world ^G2889 is passing ^G3855 away ^G3855, and also its lusts ^G1939, but the one who does ^G4160 the will ^G2307 of God ^G2316 abides ^G3306 forever ^G165.

If ^G1437 what ^G3739 you heard ^G191 from the beginning ^G746 abides ^G3306 in you, you also ^G2532 will abide ^G3306 in the Son ^G5207 and in the Father ^G3962. 25 And this ^G3778 is the promise ^G1860 which ^G3739 He Himself ^G846 [fn]made ^G1861 to us: eternal ^G166 life ^G2222.

26 These ^G3778 things ^G3778 I have written ^G1125 to you about ^G4012 those ^G3588 who are trying to deceive ^G4105 you. 27 And as for you, the anointing ^G5545 whom ^G3739 you received ^G2983 from Him abides ^G3306 in you, and you have ^G2192 no ^G3756 need ^G5532 for anyone ^G5100 to teach ^G1321 you.
