Preparation to Build Yahweh’s House

1 Then David ^H1732 said ^H559, “This ^H2088 is the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430, and this ^H2088 is the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 for Israel ^H3478.”

2 So David ^H1732 said ^H559 to gather ^H3664 the sojourners ^H1616 who ^H834 were in the land ^H776 of Israel ^H3478, and he [fn]appointed ^H5975 [fn]stonecutters ^H2672 to hew ^H2672 out ^H5975 stones ^H68 to build ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of God ^H430.

3 And David ^H1732 prepared ^H3559 large ^H7230 quantities ^H7230 of iron ^H1270 [fn]to make the nails ^H4548 for the doors ^H1817 of the gates ^H8179 and for the clamps ^H4226, and more ^H7230 bronze ^H5178 than could be weighed ^H4948; 4 and timbers ^H6086 of cedar ^H730 logs beyond ^H369 number ^H4557, for the Sidonians ^H6722 and Tyrians ^H6876 brought ^H935 large ^H7230 quantities ^H7230 of cedar ^H730 timber ^H6086 to David ^H1732. 5 And David ^H1732 said ^H559, “My son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010 is young ^H5288 and inexperienced ^H7390, and the house ^H1004 that is to be built ^H1129 for Yahweh ^H3068 shall be ^H1431 highly ^H4605 exalted ^H1431, for a name ^H8034 and beauty ^H8597 throughout all ^H3605 lands ^H776. Therefore now ^H4994 I will make ^H3559 preparation ^H3559 for it.” So David ^H1732 made ^H3559 ample ^H7230 preparations ^H3559 before ^H6440 his death ^H4194.

Solomon to Build Yahweh’s House

6 Then he called ^H7121 for his son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010, and commanded ^H6680 him to build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478.

7 And David ^H1732 said ^H559 to Solomon ^H8010, “My son ^H1121, [fn]I had it within my heart ^H3824 to build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 to the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068 my God ^H430. 8 But the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559, ‘You have shed ^H8210 much ^H7230 blood ^H1818 and have [fn]waged ^H6213 great ^H1419 wars ^H4421; you shall not build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for My name ^H8034, because ^H3588 you have shed ^H8210 so much ^H7227 blood ^H1818 on the earth ^H776 before ^H6440 Me. 9 Behold ^H2009, a son ^H1121 will be born ^H3205 to you, who ^H1931 shall be a man ^H376 of rest ^H4496; and I will give ^H5117 him rest ^H5117 from all ^H3605 his enemies ^H340 on every ^H5439 side ^H5439; for his name ^H8034 shall be [fn]Solomon ^H8010, and I will give ^H5414 peace ^H7965 and quiet ^H8253 to Israel ^H3478 in his days ^H3117. 10 He shall build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for My name ^H8034, and he shall be a son ^H1121 to Me and I will be a father ^H1 to him; and I will establish ^H3559 the throne ^H3678 of his kingdom ^H4438 over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478 forever ^H5704 H5769.’ 11 Now ^H6258, my son ^H1121, Yahweh ^H3068 be with you that you may be ^H6743 successful ^H6743, and build ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 just ^H834 as He has spoken ^H1696 concerning ^H5921 you. 12 Only ^H389 Yahweh ^H3068 give ^H5414 you insight ^H7922 and understanding ^H998, and give ^H6680 you command ^H6680 over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478, so that you may keep ^H8104 the law ^H8451 of Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430. 13 Then ^H227 you will succeed ^H6743, if ^H518 you are ^H8104 careful ^H8104 to do ^H6213 the statutes ^H2706 and the judgments ^H4941 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 commanded ^H6680 Moses ^H4872 concerning ^H5921 Israel ^H3478. Be strong ^H2388 and courageous ^H553, do not fear ^H3372 nor ^H408 be dismayed ^H2865. 14 Now behold ^H2009, [fn]with great ^H6040 pains ^H6040 I have prepared ^H3559 for the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 100,000 ^H3967 H505 [fn]talents ^H3603 of gold ^H2091 and 1,000,000 ^H505 H505 talents ^H3603 of silver ^H3701, and bronze ^H5178 and iron ^H1270 beyond ^H369 weight ^H4948, for [fn]they are in great ^H7230 quantity ^H7230; also timber ^H6086 and stone ^H68 I have prepared ^H3559, and you may add ^H3254 to them. 15 Moreover, there are many ^H7230 of those who do ^H6213 the work ^H4399 with you, hewers ^H2672 of stone and craftsmen ^H2796 of stone ^H68 and wood ^H6086, and all ^H3605 men ^H2450 who are [fn]wise ^H2450 in every ^H3605 kind of work ^H4399. 16 Of the gold ^H2091, the silver ^H3701 and the bronze ^H5178 and the iron ^H1270 there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 number ^H4557. Arise ^H6965 and work ^H6213, and may Yahweh ^H3068 be with you.”

17 David ^H1732 also commanded ^H6680 all ^H3605 the officials ^H8269 of Israel ^H3478 to help ^H5826 his son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010, saying, 18 “Is not Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 with you? And has He not given ^H5117 you rest ^H5117 on every ^H5439 side ^H5439? For He has given ^H5414 the inhabitants ^H3427 of the land ^H776 into my hand ^H3027, and the land ^H776 is subdued ^H3533 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 and before ^H6440 His people ^H5971. 19 Now ^H6258 give ^H5414 your heart ^H3824 and your soul ^H5315 to seek ^H1875 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430; arise ^H6965, therefore, and build ^H1129 the sanctuary ^H4720 of Yahweh ^H3068 God ^H430, so that you may bring ^H935 the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of Yahweh ^H3068 and the holy ^H6944 vessels ^H3627 of God ^H430 into the house ^H1004 that is to be built ^H1129 for the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068.”
