Yahweh Appears to Solomon

1 Now it happened ^H1961 when Solomon ^H8010 had completed ^H3615 building ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, and the king’s ^H4428 house ^H1004, and all ^H3605 [fn]that Solomon ^H8010 desired ^H2837 H2654 to do ^H6213,

2 that Yahweh ^H3068 appeared ^H7200 to Solomon ^H8010 a second ^H8145 time ^H8145, as He had appeared ^H7200 to him at Gibeon ^H1391. 3 And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to him, “I have heard ^H8085 your prayer ^H8605 and your supplication ^H8467, which ^H834 you have made ^H2603 before ^H6440 Me; I have set ^H6942 apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 this ^H2088 house ^H1004 which ^H834 you have built ^H1129 by putting ^H7760 My name ^H8034 there ^H8033 forever ^H5704 H5769, and My eyes ^H5869 and My heart ^H3820 will be there ^H8033 perpetually ^H3605 H3117. 4 As for you, if ^H518 you will walk ^H1980 before ^H6440 Me as your father ^H1 David ^H1732 walked ^H1980, in integrity ^H8537 of heart ^H3824 and uprightness ^H3476, to do ^H6213 according to all ^H3605 that I have commanded ^H6680 you and will keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2706 and My judgments ^H4941, 5 then I will establish ^H6965 the throne ^H3678 of your kingdom ^H4467 over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478 forever ^H5769, just ^H834 as I [fn]promised ^H1696 to your father ^H1 David ^H1732, saying ^H559, ‘You shall not have a man ^H376 cut ^H3772 off from the throne ^H3678 of Israel ^H3478.’

6 “But if ^H518 you or your sons ^H1121 indeed ^H7725 turn ^H7725 away ^H7725 from following ^H310 Me, and do not keep ^H8104 My commandments ^H4687 and My statutes ^H2708 which ^H834 I have given ^H5414 before ^H6440 you, and go ^H1980 and serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430 and worship ^H2331 them, 7 then I will cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 Israel ^H3478 from the land ^H127 which ^H834 I have given ^H5414 them, and the house ^H1004 which ^H834 I have set ^H6942 apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 for My name ^H8034, I will [fn]cast ^H7971 out ^H7971 of My presence ^H6440. So Israel ^H3478 will become ^H1961 a proverb ^H4912 and a byword ^H8148 among all ^H3605 peoples ^H5971. 8 And this ^H2088 house ^H1004 will become ^H1961 [fn]a heap ^H5945 of ruins ^H5945; everyone ^H3605 who passes ^H5674 by will feel desolate ^H8074 and hiss ^H8319 and say ^H559, ‘Why ^H5921 H4100 has Yahweh ^H3068 done ^H6213 thus ^H3602 to this ^H2088 land ^H776 and to this ^H2088 house ^H1004?’ 9 And they will say ^H559, ‘Because ^H5921 H834 they forsook ^H5800 Yahweh ^H3068 their God ^H430, who ^H834 brought ^H3318 their fathers ^H1 out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714, and took ^H2388 hold ^H2388 of other ^H312 gods ^H430 and worshiped ^H2331 them and served ^H5647 them, therefore ^H5921 H3651 Yahweh ^H3068 has brought ^H935 all ^H3605 this ^H2088 calamity ^H7451 on them.’”

Cities Given to Hiram

10 Now it happened ^H1961 that at the end ^H7097 of twenty ^H6242 years ^H8141 in which ^H834 Solomon ^H8010 had built ^H1129 the two ^H8147 houses ^H1004, the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068 and the king’s ^H4428 house ^H1004

11 (Hiram ^H2438 king ^H4428 of Tyre ^H6865 had supplied ^H5375 Solomon ^H8010 with cedar ^H730 and cypress ^H1265 timber ^H6086 and gold ^H2091 according to all ^H3605 his desire ^H2656), that King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 then ^H227 gave ^H5414 Hiram ^H2438 twenty ^H6242 cities ^H5892 in the land ^H776 of Galilee ^H1551. 12 So Hiram ^H2438 came ^H3318 out ^H3318 from Tyre ^H6865 to see ^H7200 the cities ^H5892 which ^H834 Solomon ^H8010 had given ^H5414 him, and they were not right ^H3474 in his eyes ^H5869. 13 And he said ^H559, “What ^H4100 are these ^H428 cities ^H5892 which ^H834 you have given ^H5414 me, my brother ^H251?” So [fn]they were called ^H7121 the land ^H776 of [fn]Cabul ^H3521 to this ^H2088 day ^H3117. 14 And Hiram ^H2438 sent ^H7971 to the king ^H4428 [fn]120 ^H3967 H6242 talents ^H3603 of gold ^H2091.

Solomon Builds Cities and Ships

15 Now this ^H2088 is the account ^H1697 of the forced ^H4522 labor ^H4522 which ^H834 King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 raised ^H5927 up ^H5927 to build ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068, his own house ^H1004, the [fn]Millo ^H4407, the wall ^H2346 of Jerusalem ^H3389, Hazor ^H2674, Megiddo ^H4023, and Gezer ^H1507.

16 For Pharaoh ^H6547 king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714 had gone ^H5927 up ^H5927 and captured ^H3920 Gezer ^H1507 and burned ^H8313 it with fire ^H784, and killed ^H2026 the Canaanites ^H3669 who lived ^H3427 in the city ^H5892, and had given ^H5414 it as a dowry ^H7964 to his daughter ^H1323, Solomon’s ^H8010 wife ^H802. 17 So Solomon ^H8010 rebuilt ^H1129 Gezer ^H1507 and the lower ^H8481 Beth-horon ^H1032 18 and Baalath ^H1191 and Tamar ^H8559 in the wilderness ^H4057, in the land ^H776 of Judah, 19 and all ^H3605 the storage ^H4543 cities ^H5892 which ^H834 Solomon ^H8010 had ^H1961, and the cities ^H5892 for [fn]his chariots ^H7393, and the cities ^H5892 for [fn]his horsemen ^H6571, and [fn]all ^H2837 that Solomon ^H8010 desired ^H2836 H2837 to build ^H1129 in Jerusalem ^H3389, in Lebanon ^H3844, and in all ^H3605 the land ^H776 [fn]under his rule ^H4475. 20 As for all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 who were left ^H3498 of the Amorites ^H567, the Hittites ^H2850, the Perizzites ^H6522, the Hivites ^H2340 and the Jebusites ^H2983, who ^H834 were not of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, 21 namely, their sons ^H1121 who ^H834 were left ^H3498 after ^H310 them in the land ^H776 whom ^H834 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 were ^H3201 unable ^H3808 H3201 to devote ^H2763 to destruction ^H2763, from them Solomon ^H8010 raised ^H5927 up ^H5927 forced ^H4522 laborers ^H5647 H4522 to ^H5704 this ^H2088 day ^H3117. 22 But Solomon ^H8010 did not make ^H5414 slaves ^H5650 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478; for they were men ^H376 of war ^H4421, his servants ^H5650, his princes ^H8269, his captains ^H7991, his chariot ^H7393 commanders ^H8269, and his horsemen ^H6571.

23 These ^H428 were the [fn]chief ^H8269 deputies ^H5324 who ^H834 were over ^H5921 Solomon’s ^H8010 work ^H4399, 550 ^{H2568 H3967 H2572}, who had dominion ^H7287 over the people ^H5971 doing ^H6213 the work ^H4399.

24 As soon ^H389 as Pharaoh’s ^H6547 daughter ^H1323 came ^H5927 up ^H5927 from the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732 to her house ^H1004 which ^H834 Solomon had built ^H1129 for her, then ^H227 he built ^H1129 the Millo ^H4407.

25 And three ^H7969 times ^H6471 in a year ^H8141 Solomon ^H8010 offered ^H5927 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 and peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002 on the altar ^H4196 which ^H834 he built ^H1129 to Yahweh ^H3068, burning ^H6999 incense ^H6999 with them on the altar which ^H834 was before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068. So he finished ^H7999 the house ^H1004.

26 King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 also made ^H6213 a fleet ^H590 of ^H590 ships ^H590 in Ezion-geber ^H6100, which ^H834 is near ^H854 Eloth ^H359 on the shore ^H8193 of the [fn]Red ^H5488 Sea ^H3220, in the land ^H776 of Edom ^H123. 27 And Hiram ^H2438 sent ^H7971 his servants ^H5650 with the fleet ^H590 of ships ^H590, sailors ^H376 H591 who knew ^H3045 the sea ^H3220, along ^H5973 with ^H5973 the servants ^H5650 of Solomon ^H8010. 28 And they went ^H935 to Ophir ^H211 and took ^H3947 from there ^H8033 420 ^{H702 H3967 H6242} talents ^H3603 of gold ^H2091 and brought ^H935 it to King ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010.
