Asa Reigns over Judah

1 [fn]So Abijah ^H29 slept ^H7901 with his fathers ^H1, and they buried ^H6912 him in the city ^H5892 of David ^H1732; and Asa ^H609 his son ^H1121 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478. The land ^H776 was ^H8252 quiet ^H8252 for ten ^H6235 years ^H8141 during his days ^H3117.

2 [fn]And Asa ^H609 did ^H6213 what ^H3477 was good ^H2896 and right ^H3477 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068 his God ^H430,

O Yahweh ^H3068, You are our God ^H430; let not mortal ^H582 man ^H582 prevail ^H6113 against ^H5973 You.” 12 So Yahweh ^H3068 smote ^H5062 the Ethiopians ^H3569 before ^H6440 Asa ^H609 and before ^H6440 Judah ^H3063, and the Ethiopians ^H3569 fled ^H5127. 13 And Asa ^H609 and the people ^H5971 who ^H834 were with him pursued ^H7291 them as far ^H5704 as Gerar ^H1642; and so many Ethiopians ^H3569 fell ^H5307 that [fn]they could not recover ^H4241, for they were shattered ^H7665 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 and before ^H6440 His [fn]army ^H4264. And they carried ^H5375 away very ^H3966 much ^H7235 spoil ^H7998. 14 And they struck ^H5221 down ^H5221 all ^H3605 the cities ^H5892 around ^H5439 Gerar ^H1642, for the dread ^H6343 of Yahweh ^H3068 had fallen ^H1961 on them; and they plundered ^H962 all ^H3605 the cities ^H5892, for there was much ^H7227 plunder ^H961 in them. 15 They also ^H1571 struck ^H5221 down ^H5221 [fn]those who owned ^H168 livestock ^H4735, and they carried ^H7617 away ^H7617 large ^H7230 numbers ^H7230 of sheep ^H6629 and camels ^H1581. Then they returned ^H7725 to Jerusalem ^H3389.
