The Temporal and Eternal

1 For we know ^G6063 that if ^G1437 [fn]the earthly ^G1919 tent ^G4636 which is our house ^G3624 is torn ^G2647 down ^G2647, we have ^G2192 a building ^G3619 from God ^G2316, a house ^G3624 not ^G886 made ^G886 with ^G866 hands ^G886, eternal ^G166 in the heavens ^G3772.

2 For indeed ^G2532 in this ^G3778 we groan ^G4727, longing ^G1971 to be clothed ^G1902 with our dwelling ^G3613 from heaven ^G3772, 3 inasmuch ^G1489 as we, having put ^G1746 it on, will not be found ^G2147 naked ^G1131. 4 For indeed ^G2532 while we are in this ^G3588 tent ^G4636, we groan ^G4727, being burdened ^G916, because ^G1909 G3739 we do not want ^G2309 to be unclothed ^G1562 but to be clothed ^G1902, so ^G2443 that what ^G3588 is mortal ^G2349 will be swallowed ^G2666 up ^G2666 by life ^G2222. 5 Now ^G1161 He who prepared ^G2716 us for this ^G3778 very ^G846 purpose is God ^G2316, who gave ^G1325 to us the Spirit ^G4151 as a [fn]pledge ^G728.

6 Therefore ^G3767, being ^G2292 always ^G3842 of ^G2292 good ^G2292 courage ^G2292, and knowing ^G6063 that while we are ^G1736 at ^G1736 home ^G1736 in the body ^G4983 we are absent ^G1553 from the Lord ^G2962— 7 for we walk ^G4043 by faith ^G4102, not by [fn]sight ^G1491— 8 we are ^G2292 of ^G2292 good ^G2292 courage ^G2292 and prefer ^G2106 rather ^G3123 to be absent ^G1553 from the body ^G4983 and to be ^G1736 at ^G1736 home ^G1736 with the Lord ^G2962. 9 Therefore ^G1352 we also ^G2532 have ^G5389 as ^G5389 our ambition ^G5389, whether ^G1535 at ^G1736 home ^G1736 or ^G1535 absent ^G1553, to be pleasing ^G2101 to Him. 10 For we must ^G1163 all ^G3956 appear ^G5319 before ^G1715 the judgment ^G968 seat ^G968 of Christ ^G5547, so ^G2443 that each ^G1538 one ^G1538 may be recompensed ^G2865 for [fn]his deeds in the body ^G4983, according ^G4314 to what ^G3739 he has done ^G4238, whether ^G1535 good ^G18 or ^G1535 bad ^G5337.

11 So ^G3767 then ^G3767, knowing ^G6063 the fear ^G5401 of the Lord ^G2962, we persuade ^G3982 men ^G444, but we [fn]have been made ^G5319 manifest ^G5319 to God ^G2316; and I hope ^G1679 that we [fn]have been made ^G5319 manifest ^G5319 also ^G2532 in your consciences ^G4893. 12 We are not again ^G3825 commending ^G4921 ourselves ^G1438 to you but are giving ^G1325 you an opportunity ^G874 to ^G2745 boast ^G2745 of us, so ^G2443 that you will have ^G2192 an answer for those ^G3588 who boast ^G2744 in appearance ^G4383 and not in heart ^G2588. 13 For if ^G1535 we [fn]are out ^G1839 of ^G1839 our ^G1839 mind ^G1839, it is for God ^G2316, or if ^G1535 we are of right ^G4993 mind ^G4993, it is for you. 14 For the love ^G26 of Christ ^G5547 controls ^G4912 us, having concluded ^G2919 this ^G3778, that one ^G1520 died ^G599 for all ^G3956, therefore ^G686 all ^G3956 died ^G599. 15 And He died ^G599 for all ^G3956, so ^G2443 that they who live ^G2198 would no ^G3371 longer ^G3371 live ^G2198 for themselves ^G1438, but for Him who died ^G599 and rose ^G1453 again ^G1453 on ^G5228 their behalf ^G5228.

16 Therefore ^G5620 from now ^G3568 on we recognize ^G6063 no ^G3762 one ^G3762 [fn]according ^G2596 to the flesh ^G4561; even ^G2532 though ^G1487 we have known ^G1097 Christ ^G5547 [fn]according ^G2596 to the flesh ^G4561, yet ^G235 now ^G3568 we know ^G1097 Him in this way no ^G3765 longer ^G3765. 17 Therefore ^G5620 if ^G1487 anyone ^G5100 is in Christ ^G5547, he is a new ^G2537 creation ^G2937; the old ^G744 things ^G744 passed ^G3928 away ^G3928; behold ^G2400, new ^G2537 things ^G2537 have come ^G1096. 18 Now ^G1161 all ^G3956 these things ^G3956 are from God ^G2316, who ^G3588 reconciled ^G2644 us to Himself ^G1438 through ^G1223 Christ ^G5547 and gave ^G1325 us the ministry ^G1248 of reconciliation ^G2643, 19 namely ^G5613, that God ^G2316 was in Christ ^G5547 reconciling ^G2644 the world ^G2889 to Himself ^G1438, not counting ^G3049 their transgressions ^G3900 against them, and [fn]He has [fn]committed ^G5087 to us the word ^G3056 of reconciliation ^G2643.

20 So ^G3767 then ^G3767, we are ^G4243 ambassadors ^G4243 for Christ ^G5547, as ^G5613 God ^G2316 is pleading ^G3870 through ^G1223 us. We beg ^G1189 you on ^G5228 behalf ^G5228 of Christ ^G5547, be reconciled ^G2644 to God ^G2316. 21 He made ^G4160 Him who knew ^G1097 no ^G3361 sin ^G266 to be sin ^G266 on ^G5228 our behalf ^G5228, so ^G2443 that we might become ^G1096 the righteousness ^G1343 of God ^G2316 in Him.
