Disobedient Brothers

1 Finally ^G3062, brothers ^G80, pray ^G4336 for us that the word ^G3056 of the Lord ^G2962 will [fn]spread ^G5143 rapidly ^G5143 and be glorified ^G1392, just ^G2531 as it did also ^G2532 with you;

2 and that we will be rescued ^G4506 from [fn]perverse ^G824 and evil ^G4190 men ^G444, for not all ^G3956 have [fn]faith ^G4102. 3 But the Lord ^G2962 is faithful ^G4103, who will strengthen ^G4741 and guard ^G5442 you [fn]from the evil ^G4190 one. 4 And we have ^G3982 confidence ^G3982 in the Lord ^G2962 about ^G1909 you, that you are doing ^G4160 and will continue to do ^G4160 what ^G3739 we command ^G3853. 5 And may the Lord ^G2962 direct ^G2720 your hearts ^G2588 into the love ^G26 of God ^G2316 and into the steadfastness ^G5281 of Christ ^G5547.

6 Now ^G1161 we command ^G3853 you, brothers ^G80, in the name ^G3686 of our Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547, that you [fn]keep ^G4724 away ^G4724 from every ^G3956 brother ^G80 who walks ^G4043 in an [fn]unruly ^G814 manner and not according ^G2596 to the tradition ^G3862 which ^G3739 [fn]they received ^G3880 from us. 7 For you yourselves ^G846 know ^G6063 how ^G4459 you ought ^G1163 to imitate ^G3401 us, because ^G3754 we did not act ^G812 in ^G812 an ^G812 unruly ^G812 manner ^G812 among ^G1722 you, 8 nor ^G3761 did we eat ^G2068 [fn]anyone’s ^G3844 G5100 bread ^G740 [fn]without ^G1432 paying ^G1432 for it, but with labor ^G2873 and hardship ^G3449 we kept working ^G2038 night ^G3571 and day ^G2250 so ^G4314 that we would not be a burden ^G1912 to any ^G5100 of you; 9 not because ^G3754 we do not have ^G2192 the authority ^G1849, but in ^G2443 order ^G2443 to ^G2443 offer ^G1325 ourselves ^G1438 as a model ^G5179 for you, so ^G1519 that you would imitate ^G3401 us. 10 For even ^G2532 when ^G3753 we were with you, we used to command ^G3853 this ^G3778 to you: if ^G1487 anyone ^G5100 is not willing ^G2309 to work ^G2038, neither ^G3366 let him eat ^G2068. 11 For we hear ^G191 that some ^G5100 among ^G1722 you are walking ^G4043 in an unruly ^G814 manner, doing ^G2038 no ^G3367 work ^G2038 at ^G3367 all ^G3367, but acting ^G4020 like ^G4020 busybodies ^G4020. 12 Now ^G1161 such ^G5108 persons ^G5108 we command ^G3853 and exhort ^G3870 in the Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547, that ^G2443 working ^G2038 with quietness ^G2271, they eat ^G2068 their own ^G1438 bread ^G740. 13 But as for you, brothers ^G80, do not lose ^G6023 heart ^G6023 in doing ^G2569 good ^G2569.

14 And if ^G1487 anyone ^G5100 does not obey ^G5219 our word ^G3056 [fn]in this ^G3588 letter ^G1992, take ^G4593 special ^G4593 note ^G4593 of that person ^G3778 to not associate ^G4874 with him, so ^G2443 that he will be put ^G1788 to ^G1788 shame ^G1788. 15 And yet do not regard ^G2233 him as an enemy ^G2190, but [fn]admonish ^G3560 him as a brother ^G80.

16 Now ^G1161 may the Lord ^G2962 of peace ^G1515 Himself ^G846 continually ^G1223 G3956 give ^G1325 you peace ^G1515 in every ^G3956 [fn]circumstance ^G5158. The Lord ^G2962 be with you all ^G3956!
