In Iconium
1 Now it happened G1096 that in Iconium G2430 they entered G1525 the synagogue G4864 of the Jews G2453 together G2596 G3588 G846 and spoke G2980 in G3779 such G3779 a G3779 manner G3779 that a large G4183 number G4128 of G4128 people G4128 believed G4100, both G5037 of Jews G2453 and of Greeks G1672.
2 But the [fn]unbelieving G544 Jews G2453 instigated G1892 and embittered G2559 the [fn]minds G5590 of the Gentiles G1484 against G2596 the brothers G80. 3 Therefore G3767 they spent G1304 a long G2425 time G5550 there speaking G3955 boldly G3955 with reliance upon the Lord G2962, who was testifying G3140 to the word G3056 of His grace G5485, granting G1325 that [fn]signs G4592 and wonders G5059 be done G1096 through their hands G5495. 4 But the multitude G4128 of the city G4172 was divided G4977; and some G3588 G3303 [fn]sided G1510 with the Jews G2453, and some G3588 with the apostles G652. 5 And when G5613 an attempt G3730 was made G1096 by both G5037 the Gentiles G1484 and the Jews G2453 with their rulers G758 to mistreat G5195 and to stone G3036 them, 6 they became aware G4894 of it and fled G2703 to the cities G4172 of Lycaonia G3071, Lystra G3082 and Derbe G1191, and the surrounding G4066 region G4066; 7 and there G2546 they continued to proclaim G2097 the gospel G2097.
In Lystra and Derbe
8 And at Lystra G3082 a man G435 was sitting G2521 who G3739 had no G102 strength G102 in his feet G4228, lame G5560 from his mother’s G3384 womb G2836, who G3739 had never G3763 walked G4043.
9 This G3778 man G3778 listened G191 to Paul G3972 as he spoke G2980, who G3739, when he fixed G816 his gaze G816 on him and saw G3708 that he had G2192 faith G4102 to be [fn]saved G4982 from being lame, 10 said G3004 with a loud G3173 voice G5456, “Stand G450 upright G3717 on your feet G4228.” And he leaped G242 up G242 and began to walk G4043. 11 And when the crowds G3793 saw G3708 what G3739 Paul G3972 had done G4160, they raised G1869 their voice G5456, saying G3004 in the Lycaonian G3072 language G3072, “The gods G2316 have become G3666 like G3666 men G444 and have come G2597 down G2597 to us.” 12 And they began calling G2564 Barnabas G921, [fn]Zeus G2203, and Paul G3972, [fn]Hermes G2060, because G1894 he was [fn]the chief G2233 speaker G3056. 13 And the priest G2409 of Zeus G2203, whose temple was [fn]just G4253 outside G4253 the city G4172, brought G5342 oxen G5022 and garlands G4725 to the gates G4440, and was wanting G2309 to offer G2380 sacrifice G2380 with the crowds G3793. 14 But when the apostles G652 Barnabas G921 and Paul G3972 heard G191 of it, they tore G1284 their garments G2440 and rushed G6030 out G6030 into the crowd G3793, crying G2896 out G2896 15 and saying G3004, “Men G435, why G5101 are you doing G4160 these G3778 things G3778? We are also G2532 men G444 of the same G3663 nature G3663 as you, proclaiming G2097 the gospel G2097 to you that you should turn G1994 from these G3778 [fn]vain G3152 things G3152 to a living G2198 God G2316, WHO G3739 MADE G4160 THE HEAVEN G3772 AND THE EARTH G1093 AND THE SEA G2281 AND ALL G3956 THAT IS IN THEM. 16 [fn]In the generations G1074 gone G3944 by He permitted G1439 all G3956 the [fn]nations G1484 to go G4198 their own ways G3598; 17 and yet G2543 He did not leave G863 Himself G848 without G267 witness G267, in that He did G14 good G14 and gave G1325 you rains G5205 from heaven G3771 and fruitful G2593 seasons G2540, filling G1705 your hearts G2588 with food G5160 and gladness G2167.” 18 And saying G3004 these G3778 things G3778, with difficulty G3433 they restrained G2664 the crowds G3793 from offering G2380 sacrifice G2380 to them.
19 But Jews G2453 came G1904 from Antioch G490 and Iconium G2430, and after winning G3982 over G3982 the crowds G3793 and stoning G3034 Paul G3972, they were dragging G4951 him out of the city G4172, supposing G3543 him to be dead G2348. 20 But while the disciples G3101 stood G2944 around G2944 him, he rose G450 up G450 and entered G1525 the city G4172. The next G1887 day G1887 he went G1831 away G1831 with Barnabas G921 to Derbe G1191. 21 And after they had proclaimed G2097 the gospel G2097 to that city G4172 and had made G3100 many G2425 disciples G3100, they returned G5290 to Lystra G3082 and to Iconium G2430 and to Antioch G490, 22 strengthening G1991 the souls G5590 of the disciples G3101, encouraging G3870 them to continue G1696 in the faith G4102, and saying, “Through G1223 many G4183 afflictions G2347 we must G1163 enter G1525 the kingdom G932 of God G2316.” 23 And when they had appointed G5500 elders G4245 for them in every G2596 church G1577, having prayed G4336 with fasting G3521, they commended G3908 them to the Lord G2962 in whom G3739 they had believed G4100.
The Return to Antioch
24 And when they passed G1330 through G1330 Pisidia G4099, they came G2064 into Pamphylia G3828.
25 And when they had spoken G2980 the word G3056 in Perga G4011, they went G2597 down G2597 to Attalia G825. 26 And from G2547 there G2547 they sailed G636 to Antioch G490, from where G3606 they had been G1510 committed G3860 to the grace G5485 of God G2316 for the work G2041 that they had fulfilled G4137. 27 And when they had arrived G3854 and gathered G4863 the church G1577 together G4863, they began to report G312 all G3745 things G3745 that G3745 God G2316 had done G4160 with them and [fn]how G3754 He had opened G455 a door G2374 of faith G4102 to the Gentiles G1484. 28 And they spent G1304 not G3756 a little G3641 time G5550 with the disciples G3101.
