Sinful Israelites Will Die by the Sword

1 I saw ^H7200 the Lord ^H136 standing ^H5324 beside ^H5921 the altar ^H4196, and He said ^H559,

“Strike ^H5221 the capitals ^H3730 so that the thresholds ^H5592 will quake ^H7493,

And break ^H1214 them on the heads ^H7218 of them all ^H3605!

Then I will kill ^H2026 the rest ^H319 of them with the sword ^H2719;

Not one of them who ^H5127 can flee ^H5127 will flee ^H5127,

And not one of them who ^H6412 can survive ^H6412 will escape ^H4422.

2 “Though ^H518 they dig ^H2864 into Sheol ^H7585,

From there ^H8033 will My hand ^H3027 take ^H3947 them;

And though ^H518 they ascend ^H5927 to heaven ^H8064,

From there ^H8033 will I bring ^H3381 them down ^H3381.

3 “And though ^H518 they hide ^H2244 on the [fn]top ^H7218 of Carmel ^H3760,

From there ^H8033 I will search ^H2664 them out ^H2664 and take ^H3947 them;

And though ^H518 they conceal ^H5641 themselves from My eyes ^H5869 on the floor ^H7172 of the sea ^H3220,

From there ^H8033 I will command ^H6680 the serpent ^H5175, and it will bite ^H5391 them.

4 “And though ^H518 they go ^H1980 into captivity ^H7628 before ^H6440 their enemies ^H340,

From there ^H8033 I will command ^H6680 the sword ^H2719 that it kill ^H2026 them,

And I will set ^H7760 My eyes ^H5869 against ^H5921 them for evil ^H7451 and not for good ^H2896.”

5 Now Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635,

The One who touches ^H5060 the land ^H776 so that it melts ^H4127,

And all ^H3605 those who inhabit ^H3427 it mourn ^H56,

And all ^H3605 of it rises ^H5927 up ^H5927 like the Nile ^H2975

And subsides ^H8257 like the Nile ^H2975 of Egypt ^H4714;

6 The One who builds ^H1129 His [fn]upper ^H4609 chambers ^H4609 in the heavens ^H8064

And has founded ^H3245 His vaulted ^H92 dome ^H92 over ^H5921 the earth ^H776;

The One who calls ^H7121 for the waters ^H4325 of the sea ^H3220

And pours ^H8210 them out ^H8210 on the face ^H6440 of the earth ^H776;

Yahweh ^H3068 is His name ^H8034.

7 “Are you not as the sons ^H1121 of Ethiopia ^H3569 to Me,

O sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478?” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

“Have I not brought ^H5927 up ^H5927 Israel ^H3478 from the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714,

And the Philistines ^H6430 from Caphtor ^H3731 and the Arameans ^H758 from Kir ^H7024?

8 “Behold ^H2009, the eyes ^H5869 of Lord ^H136 Yahweh ^H3068 are on the sinful ^H2400 kingdom ^H4467,

And I will destroy ^H8045 it from the face ^H6440 of the earth ^H127;

Nevertheless ^H657 H3588, I will not totally ^H8045 destroy ^H8045 the house ^H1004 of Jacob ^H3290,”

Declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

9 “For behold ^H2009, I am commanding ^H6680,

And I will shake ^H5128 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 among all ^H3605 nations ^H1471

As grain is shaken ^H5128 in a sieve ^H3531,

But not a [fn]kernel ^H6872 will fall ^H5307 to the ground ^H776.

10 “All ^H3605 the sinners ^H2400 of My people ^H5971 will die ^H4191 by the sword ^H2719,

Those who say ^H559, ‘The calamity ^H7451 will not overtake ^H5066 or confront ^H6923 us.’

Yahweh Will Rebuild Israel

11 “In that day ^H3117 I will raise ^H6965 up ^H6965 the fallen ^H5307 [fn]booth ^H5521 of David ^H1732

And wall ^H1443 up ^H1443 its breaches ^H6556;

I will also raise ^H6965 up ^H6965 its ruins ^H2034

And rebuild ^H1129 it as in the ancient ^H5769 days ^H3117,

12 That they may possess ^H3423 the remnant ^H7611 of Edom ^H123

And all ^H3605 the [fn]nations ^H1471 who ^H834 are called ^H7121 by My name ^H8034,”

Declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068 who does ^H6213 this ^H2088.

13 “Behold ^H2009, days ^H3117 are coming ^H935,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068,

“When the plowman ^H2790 will overtake ^H5066 the reaper ^H7114

And the treader ^H1869 of grapes ^H6025 him who sows ^H4900 seed ^H2233;

When the mountains ^H2022 will drip ^H5197 [fn]sweet ^H6071 wine ^H6071

And all ^H3605 the hills ^H1389 will melt ^H4127.

14 “Also I will restore ^H7725 the [fn]captivity ^H7622 of My people ^H5971 Israel ^H3478,

And they will rebuild ^H1129 the desolated ^H8074 cities ^H5892 and live ^H3427 in them;

They will also plant ^H5193 vineyards ^H3754 and drink ^H8354 their wine ^H3196

And make ^H6213 gardens ^H1593 and eat ^H398 their fruit ^H6529.

15 “I will also plant ^H5193 them on their land ^H127,

And they will not again ^H5750 be uprooted ^H5428 from their land ^H127

Which ^H834 I have given ^H5414 them,”

Says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.
