Israel Crosses the Red Sea

1 Now Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

2 “Speak ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 so that they turn ^H7725 back ^H7725 and camp ^H2583 before ^H6440 Pi-hahiroth ^H6367, between ^H996 Migdol ^H4024 and the sea ^H3220; you shall camp ^H2583 in front ^H6440 of Baal-zephon ^H1189, opposite ^H5227 it, by the sea ^H3220. 3 And Pharaoh ^H6547 will say ^H559 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, ‘They are wandering ^H943 in ^H943 confusion ^H943 in the land ^H776; the wilderness ^H4057 has shut ^H5462 them in ^H5462.’ 4 Thus I will [fn]harden ^H2388 Pharaoh’s ^H6547 heart ^H3820 with strength ^H2388, and he will pursue ^H7291 them; and I will be glorified ^H3513 through Pharaoh ^H6547 and all ^H3605 his army ^H2428, so that the Egyptians ^H4714 will know ^H3045 that I am Yahweh ^H3068.” And they did ^H6213 so ^H3651.

5 Then the king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714 was told ^H5046 that the people ^H5971 had fled ^H1272, and the heart ^H3824 of Pharaoh ^H6547 and his servants ^H5650 was ^H2015 changed ^H2015 toward ^H413 the people ^H5971, and they said ^H559, “What ^H4100 is this ^H2088 we have done ^H6213, that we have let ^H7971 Israel ^H3478 go ^H7971 from serving ^H5647 us?” 6 So he made ^H631 his chariot ^H7393 ready ^H631 and took ^H3947 his people ^H5971 with him; 7 and he took ^H3947 six ^H8337 hundred ^H3967 choice ^H977 chariots ^H7393 and all ^H3605 the other chariots ^H7393 of Egypt ^H4714 with officers ^H7991 over ^H5921 all ^H3605 of them. 8 And Yahweh ^H3068 [fn]hardened ^H2388 the heart ^H3820 of Pharaoh ^H6547, king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714, with strength ^H2388, and he pursued ^H7291 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 as the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 were going ^H3318 out ^H3318 with an [fn]exalted ^H7311 hand ^H3027. 9 Then the Egyptians ^H4714 pursued ^H7291 them with all ^H3605 the horses ^H5483 and chariots ^H7393 of Pharaoh ^H6547, his horsemen ^H6571 and his army ^H2428, and they overtook ^H5381 them camping ^H2583 by the sea ^H3220, beside ^H5921 Pi-hahiroth ^H6367, in front ^H6440 of Baal-zephon ^H1189.

10 Now Pharaoh ^H6547 drew ^H7126 near ^H7126, and the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 lifted ^H5375 up ^H5375 their eyes ^H5869, and behold ^H2009, the Egyptians ^H4714 were marching ^H5265 after ^H310 them, and they became ^H3372 very ^H3966 afraid ^H3372; so the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 cried ^H6817 out ^H6817 to Yahweh ^H3068. 11 Then they said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Is it because ^H4480 H1097 there ^H369 were ^H369 no ^H369 graves ^H6913 in Egypt ^H4714 that you have taken ^H3947 us away to die ^H4191 in the wilderness ^H4057? What ^H4100 is this ^H2063 you have done ^H6213 against us in [fn]bringing ^H3318 us out ^H6213 of Egypt ^H4714? 12 Is this ^H2088 not the word ^H1697 that we spoke ^H1696 to you in Egypt ^H4714, saying ^H559, ‘[fn]Leave ^H2308 us alone ^H4480 that we may serve ^H5647 the Egyptians ^H4714’? For it would have been better ^H2896 for us to serve ^H5647 the Egyptians ^H4714 than ^H4480 for us to die ^H4191 in the wilderness ^H4057.” 13 But Moses ^H4872 said ^H559 to the people ^H5971, “Do not fear ^H3372! [fn]Stand ^H3320 by and see ^H7200 the salvation ^H3444 of Yahweh ^H3068 which ^H834 He will accomplish ^H6213 for you today ^H3117; for the Egyptians ^H4714 whom ^H834 you have seen ^H7200 today ^H3117, you will never ^H3808 H5750 see ^H7200 them again ^H3254 forever ^H5704 H5769. 14 Yahweh ^H3068 will fight ^H3898 for you, and you will keep ^H2790 silent ^H2790.”

15 Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Why ^H4100 are you crying ^H6817 out ^H6817 to Me? Speak ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 so that they go ^H5265 forward ^H5265. 16 As for you, raise ^H7311 up ^H7311 your staff ^H4294 and stretch ^H5186 out ^H5186 your hand ^H3027 over ^H5921 the sea ^H3220 and split ^H1234 it, and the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 shall [fn]go ^H935 through ^H935 the midst ^H8432 of the sea ^H3220 on dry ^H3004 land ^H3004. 17 As for Me, behold ^H2009, I will [fn]harden ^H2388 the hearts ^H3820 of the Egyptians ^H4714 with strength ^H2388 so that they will go ^H935 in ^H935 after ^H310 them; and I will be glorified ^H3513 through Pharaoh ^H6547 and all ^H3605 his army ^H2428, through his chariots ^H7393 and his horsemen ^H6571. 18 Then the Egyptians ^H4714 will know ^H3045 that I am Yahweh ^H3068, when I am glorified ^H3513 through Pharaoh ^H6547, through his chariots ^H7393 and his horsemen ^H6571.”

19 Then the angel ^H4397 of God ^H430, who had been going ^H1980 before ^H6440 the camp ^H4264 of Israel ^H3478, moved ^H5265 and went ^H1980 behind ^H4480 H310 them; and the pillar ^H5982 of cloud ^H6051 moved ^H5265 from before ^H4480 H6440 them and stood ^H5975 behind ^H4480 H310 them. 20 So it came ^H935 between ^H996 the camp ^H4264 of Egypt ^H4714 and the camp ^H4264 of Israel ^H3478; and there was the cloud ^H6051 [fn]along with the darkness ^H2822, yet it gave ^H215 light ^H215 at night ^H3915. Thus the one ^H2088 did not come ^H7126 near ^H7126 the other ^H2088 all ^H3605 night ^H3915.

21 Then Moses ^H4872 stretched ^H5186 out ^H5186 his hand ^H3027 over ^H5921 the sea ^H3220; and Yahweh ^H3068 [fn]swept ^H1980 the sea ^H3220 back by a strong ^H5794 east ^H6921 wind ^H7307 all ^H3605 night ^H3915 and made ^H7760 the sea ^H3220 into dry ^H2724 ground ^H2724, so the waters ^H4325 were split ^H1234. 22 So the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 [fn]went ^H935 through ^H935 the midst ^H8432 of the sea ^H3220 on the dry ^H3004 land ^H3004, and the waters ^H4325 were a wall ^H2346 to them on their right ^H3225 hand ^H3225 and on their left ^H8040. 23 Then the Egyptians ^H4714 pursued ^H7291 them, and all ^H3605 Pharaoh’s ^H6547 horses ^H5483, his chariots ^H7393 and his horsemen ^H6571 went ^H935 in ^H935 after ^H310 them into the midst ^H8432 of the sea ^H3220. 24 Then at the morning ^H1242 watch ^H821, Yahweh ^H3068 looked ^H8259 down ^H8259 on the camp ^H4264 of the Egyptians ^H4714 [fn]through the pillar ^H5982 of fire ^H784 and cloud ^H6051 and brought ^H2000 the camp ^H4264 of the Egyptians ^H4714 into ^H2000 confusion ^H2000. 25 And He [fn]caused ^H5493 their chariot ^H4818 wheels ^H212 to ^H5493 swerve ^H5493, and He made them drive ^H5090 with difficulty ^H3517; so the Egyptians ^H4714 said ^H559, “Let [fn]us flee ^H5127 from Israel ^H3478, for Yahweh ^H3068 is fighting ^H3898 for them against the Egyptians ^H4714.”

26 Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Stretch ^H5186 out ^H5186 your hand ^H3027 over ^H5921 the sea ^H3220 so that the waters ^H4325 may come ^H7725 back ^H7725 over ^H5921 the Egyptians ^H4714, over ^H5921 their chariots ^H7393 and their horsemen ^H6571.” 27 So Moses ^H4872 stretched ^H5186 out ^H5186 his hand ^H3027 over ^H5921 the sea ^H3220, and the sea ^H3220 returned ^H7725 to its normal ^H386 state ^H386 at daybreak ^H1242 while the Egyptians ^H4714 were fleeing ^H5127 [fn]right ^H7122 into ^H7122 it; then Yahweh ^H3068 [fn]overthrew ^H5287 the Egyptians ^H4714 in the midst ^H8432 of the sea ^H3220. 28 And the waters ^H4325 returned ^H7725 and covered ^H3680 the chariots ^H7393 and the horsemen ^H6571, [fn]even Pharaoh’s ^H6547 entire ^H3605 army ^H2428 that had gone ^H935 into the sea ^H3220 after ^H310 them; not even ^H5704 one ^H259 of them remained ^H7604. 29 But the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 walked ^H1980 on dry ^H3004 land ^H3004 through the midst ^H8432 of the sea ^H3220, and the waters ^H4325 were a wall ^H2346 to them on their right ^H3225 hand ^H3225 and on their left ^H8040.

30 Thus Yahweh ^H3068 saved ^H3467 Israel ^H3478 that day ^H3117 from the hand ^H3027 of the Egyptians ^H4714, and Israel ^H3478 saw ^H7200 the Egyptians ^H4714 dead ^H4191 on the seashore ^H3220 H8193. 31 Then Israel ^H3478 saw ^H7200 the great ^H1419 hand ^H3027 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 had [fn]used ^H6213 against the Egyptians ^H4714; and the people ^H5971 [fn]feared ^H3372 Yahweh ^H3068, and they believed ^H539 in Yahweh ^H3068 and in His servant ^H5650 Moses ^H4872.
