The Altar of Incense

1 “Moreover, you shall make ^H6213 an altar ^H4196 as a place ^H4729 for ^H4729 burning ^H4729 incense ^H7004; you shall make ^H6213 it of acacia ^H7848 wood ^H6086.

2 Its length ^H753 shall be a [fn]cubit ^H520, and its width ^H7341 a cubit ^H520; it shall be square ^H7251. And its height ^H6967 shall be two cubits ^H520; its horns ^H7161 shall be [fn]of the same piece. 3 You shall overlay ^H6823 it with pure ^H2889 gold ^H2091, its top ^H1406 and its [fn]sides ^H7023 all ^H5439 around ^H5439, and its horns ^H7161; and you shall make ^H6213 a gold ^H2091 molding ^H2213 all ^H5439 around ^H5439 for it. 4 You shall make ^H6213 two ^H8147 gold ^H2091 rings ^H2885 for it under ^H8478 its molding ^H2213; you shall make ^H6213 them on its two ^H8147 side ^H6654 walls ^H6763—on [fn]opposite ^H8147 sides ^H6654—and [fn]they shall be holders ^H1004 for poles ^H905 with which ^H1992 to carry ^H5375 it. 5 You shall make ^H6213 the poles ^H905 of acacia ^H7848 wood ^H6086 and overlay ^H6823 them with gold ^H2091. 6 You shall put ^H5414 [fn]this altar in front ^H6440 of the veil ^H6532 that is [fn]near ^H5921 the ark ^H727 of the testimony ^H5715, in front ^H6440 of the [fn]mercy ^H3727 seat ^H3727 that is over ^H5921 the testimony ^H5715, where ^H834 H8033 I will meet ^H3259 with you. 7 Aaron ^H175 shall burn ^H6999 fragrant ^H5561 incense ^H7004 on it; he shall burn ^H6999 it every morning ^H1242 when he trims ^H3190 the lamps ^H5216. 8 When Aaron ^H175 [fn]trims ^H5927 the lamps ^H5216 [fn]at twilight ^H6153, he shall burn ^H6999 incense ^H6999. There shall be continual ^H8548 incense ^H7004 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 throughout your generations ^H1755. 9 You shall not offer ^H5927 any strange ^H2114 incense ^H7004 on [fn]this altar or burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 or grain ^H4503 offering ^H4503; and you shall not pour ^H5258 out ^H5258 a drink ^H5262 offering ^H5262 on it. 10 Aaron ^H175 shall make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 on its horns ^H7161 once ^H259 a year ^H8141; he shall make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 on it with the blood ^H1818 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 of atonement ^H3725 once ^H259 a year ^H8141 throughout your generations ^H1755. It is most ^H6944 holy ^H6944 to Yahweh ^H3068.”

The Census and the Atonement Price

11 Yahweh ^H3068 also spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

12 “When ^H3588 you take ^H5375 a [fn]census ^H7218 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 [fn]to number ^H6485 them, then each ^H376 one ^H376 of them shall give ^H5414 a price of atonement ^H3724 for [fn]himself ^H5315 to Yahweh ^H3068 when you [fn]number ^H6485 them, so that there will be no ^H3808 plague ^H5063 among them when you [fn]number ^H6485 them. 13 This ^H2088 is what everyone ^H3605 who [fn]is numbered ^H6485 shall give ^H5414: half ^H4276 a [fn]shekel ^H8255 according to the shekel ^H8255 of the sanctuary ^H6944 (the shekel ^H8255 is twenty ^H6242 [fn]gerahs ^H1626), half ^H4276 a shekel ^H8255 as a [fn]contribution ^H8641 to Yahweh ^H3068. 14 Everyone ^H3605 who [fn]is numbered ^H6485, from twenty ^H6242 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 and over ^H4605, shall give ^H5414 the [fn]contribution ^H8641 to Yahweh ^H3068. 15 The rich ^H6223 shall not pay ^H7235 more ^H7235 and the poor ^H1800 shall not pay ^H4591 less ^H4591 than ^H4480 the half ^H4276 shekel ^H8255 when you give ^H5414 the [fn]contribution ^H8641 to Yahweh ^H3068 to make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for your souls ^H5315. 16 And you shall take ^H3947 the atonement ^H3725 money ^H3701 from the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 and shall give ^H5414 it for the service ^H5656 of the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150, that it may be a remembrance ^H2146 for the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068, to make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for your souls ^H5315.”

The Laver for the Priestly Washing

17 And Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

18 “You shall also make ^H6213 a laver ^H3595 of [fn]bronze ^H5178, with its stand ^H3653 of bronze ^H5178, for washing ^H7364; and you shall put ^H5414 it between ^H996 the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150 and the altar ^H4196, and you shall put ^H5414 water ^H4325 in it. 19 And Aaron ^H175 and his sons ^H1121 shall wash ^H7364 their hands ^H3027 and their feet ^H7272 from it; 20 when they come ^H935 into the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150, they shall wash ^H7364 with water ^H4325, so that they will not die ^H4191; or ^H176 when they approach ^H5066 the altar ^H4196 to minister ^H8334, by offering ^H6999 up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 a fire ^H801 sacrifice to Yahweh ^H3068. 21 So they shall wash ^H7364 their hands ^H3027 and their feet ^H7272, so that they will not die ^H4191; and it shall be a perpetual ^H5769 statute ^H2706 for them, for [fn]Aaron and his seed ^H2233 throughout their generations ^H1755.”

The Holy Anointing Oil

22 Moreover, Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

23 “But as for you, take ^H3947 for yourself the finest ^H7218 of spices ^H1314: of flowing ^H1865 myrrh ^H4753 500 ^H2568 H3967 shekels, and of fragrant ^H1314 cinnamon ^H7076 half ^H4276 as much ^H4276, 250 ^H3967 H2572, and of fragrant ^H1314 cane ^H7070 250 ^H3967 H2572, 24 and of cassia ^H6916 500 ^H2568 H3967, according to the shekel ^H8255 of the sanctuary ^H6944, and of olive ^H2132 oil ^H8081 a [fn]hin ^H1969. 25 And you shall make ^H6213 [fn]of these a holy ^H6944 anointing ^H4888 oil ^H8081, a perfume ^H7545 mixture ^H4842, the work ^H4639 of a perfumer ^H7543; it shall be a holy ^H6944 anointing ^H4888 oil ^H8081. 26 And with it you shall anoint ^H4886 the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150 and the ark ^H727 of the testimony ^H5715, 27 and the table ^H7979 and all ^H3605 its utensils ^H3627, and the lampstand ^H4501 and its utensils ^H3627, and the altar ^H4196 of incense ^H7004, 28 and the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 and all ^H3605 its utensils ^H3627, and the laver ^H3595 and its stand ^H3653. 29 You shall also set ^H6942 them apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942, that they may be most ^H6944 holy ^H6944; whatever ^H3605 touches ^H5060 them shall be holy ^H6942. 30 And you shall anoint ^H4886 Aaron ^H175 and his sons ^H1121, and you shall set ^H6942 them apart ^H6942 as holy ^H6942, that they may minister ^H3547 as ^H3547 priests ^H3547 to Me. 31 And you shall speak ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, saying ^H559, ‘This ^H2088 shall be a holy ^H6944 anointing ^H4888 oil ^H8081 to Me throughout your generations ^H1755. 32 It shall not be poured ^H5480 on [fn]anyone’s ^H120 body ^H1320, nor ^H3808 shall you make ^H6213 any like ^H3644 it in [fn]the same specifications ^H4971; it is holy ^H6944, and it shall be holy ^H6944 to you. 33 Whoever ^H376 H834 shall mix ^H7543 any like ^H3644 it or whoever ^H834 puts ^H5414 any ^H4480 of it on a [fn]layman ^H2114 [fn]shall be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from his people ^H5971.’”

The Incense

34 Then Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Moses ^H4872, “Take ^H3947 for yourself fragrances ^H5561, stacte ^H5198 and onycha ^H7827 and galbanum ^H2464, fragrances ^H5561 with pure ^H2134 frankincense ^H3828; there shall be an equal part ^H905 of each ^H905.

35 With it you shall make ^H6213 incense ^H7004, a perfume ^H7545, the work ^H4639 of a perfumer ^H7543, salted ^H4414, pure ^H2889, and holy ^H6944. 36 You shall beat ^H7833 some ^H4480 of it very ^H1854 fine ^H1854, and you shall put ^H5414 part of it before ^H6440 the testimony ^H5715 in the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150 where ^H834 H8033 I will meet ^H3259 with you; it shall be most ^H6944 holy ^H6944 to you. 37 The incense ^H7004 which ^H834 you shall make ^H6213, you shall not make ^H6213 in [fn]the same specifications ^H4971 for yourselves; it shall be holy ^H6944 to you for Yahweh ^H3068. 38 Whoever ^H376 H834 shall make ^H6213 any like ^H3644 it, to [fn]use ^H7306 as ^H7306 perfume ^H7306, [fn]shall be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from his people ^H5971.”
