Ezra Sends for Levites

15 Now I gathered ^H6908 them at the river ^H5104 that runs ^H935 to Ahava ^H163, where ^H8033 we camped ^H2583 for three ^H7969 days ^H3117. And I [fn]observed ^H995 the people ^H5971 and the priests ^H3548, but I did not find ^H4672 any ^H4480 Levites ^H1121 H3881 there ^H8033.

God’s Protection Sought

21 Then I called ^H7121 for a fast ^H6685 there ^H8033 at the river ^H5104 of Ahava ^H163, that we might humble ^H6031 ourselves before ^H6440 our God ^H430 to seek ^H1245 from Him a [fn]direct ^H3477 journey ^H1870 for us, our little ^H2945 ones ^H2945, and all ^H3605 our possessions ^H7399.

24 Then I [fn]set ^H914 apart ^H914 twelve ^H8147 H6240 of the leading ^H8269 priests ^H3548, Sherebiah ^H8274, Hashabiah ^H2811, and with them ten ^H6235 of their brothers ^H251; 25 and I weighed ^H8254 out ^H8254 to them the silver ^H3701, the gold ^H2091, and the utensils ^H3627, the contribution ^H8641 for the house ^H1004 of our God ^H430 which the king ^H4428 and his counselors ^H3289 and his princes ^H8269 and all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478 present ^H4672 there had offered ^H7311. 26 Thus I weighed ^H8254 into their hands ^H3027 [fn]650 ^{H8337 H3967 H2572} talents ^H3603 of silver ^H3701, and silver ^H3701 utensils ^H3627 worth 100 ^H3967 talents ^H3603, and 100 ^H3967 gold ^H2091 talents ^H3603, 27 and 20 ^H6242 gold ^H2091 bowls ^H3713 worth 1,000 ^H505 [fn]darics ^H150, and two ^H8147 utensils ^H3627 of fine ^H2896 shiny ^H6668 bronze ^H5178, precious ^H2532 as gold ^H2091. 28 Then I said ^H559 to them, “You are holy ^H6944 to Yahweh ^H3068, and the utensils ^H3627 are holy ^H6944; and the silver ^H3701 and the gold ^H2091 are a freewill ^H5071 offering ^H5071 to Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of your fathers ^H1. 29 Watch ^H8245 and keep ^H8104 them until ^H5704 you weigh ^H8254 them before ^H6440 the officials ^H8269 of the priests ^H3548, the Levites ^H3881 and the officials ^H8269 of the fathers’ ^H1 households of Israel ^H3478 at Jerusalem ^H3389, in the chambers ^H3957 of the house ^H1004 of Yahweh ^H3068.” 30 So the priests ^H3548 and the Levites ^H3881 accepted ^H6901 the weighed ^H4948 out silver ^H3701 and gold ^H2091 and the utensils ^H3627, to bring ^H935 them to Jerusalem ^H3389 to the house ^H1004 of our God ^H430.

31 Then we set ^H5265 out ^H5265 from the river ^H5104 Ahava ^H163 on the twelfth ^H8147 H6240 of the first ^H7223 month ^H2320 to go ^H1980 to Jerusalem ^H3389; and the hand ^H3027 of our God ^H430 was upon ^H5921 us, and He delivered ^H5337 us from the hand ^H3709 of the enemy ^H340 and the ambushes ^H693 by the way ^H1870. 32 Thus we came ^H935 to Jerusalem ^H3389 and remained ^H3427 there ^H8033 three ^H7969 days ^H3117.

Silver, Gold, and Utensils Weighed

33 On the fourth ^H7243 day ^H3117 the silver ^H3701 and the gold ^H2091 and the utensils ^H3627 were weighed ^H8254 out ^H8254 in the house ^H1004 of our God ^H430 into the hand ^H3027 of Meremoth ^H4822 the son ^H1121 of Uriah ^H223 the priest ^H3548, and with him was Eleazar ^H499 the son ^H1121 of Phinehas ^H6372; and with them were the Levites ^H3881, Jozabad ^H3107 the son ^H1121 of Jeshua ^H3091 and Noadiah ^H5129 the son ^H1121 of Binnui ^H1131. 34 Everything ^H3605 was numbered ^H4557 and weighed ^H4948, and all ^H3605 the weight ^H4948 was written ^H3789 down at that time ^H6256.

35 The exiles ^H1121 H1473 who had come ^H935 from the captivity ^H7628 brought ^H7126 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930 near ^H7126 to the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478: 12 ^H8147 H6240 bulls ^H6499 for all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478, 96 ^H8673 H8337 rams ^H352, 77 ^H7657 H7651 lambs ^H3532, 12 ^H8147 H6240 male ^H6842 goats ^H6842 for a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403, all ^H3605 as a burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 to Yahweh ^H3068. 36 Then they gave ^H5414 the king’s ^H4428 edicts ^H1881 to the king’s ^H4428 satraps ^H323 and to the governors ^H6346 in the provinces beyond ^H5676 the [fn]River ^H5104, and they supported ^H5375 the people ^H5971 and the house ^H1004 of God ^H430.
