Yahweh’s Chosen Servant

1 “Behold ^H2005, My Servant ^H5650, whom I [fn]uphold ^H8551;

My chosen ^H972 one in whom My soul ^H5315 is well-pleased ^H7521.

I have put ^H5414 My Spirit ^H7307 upon Him;

He will bring ^H3318 forth ^H3318 justice ^H4941 to the [fn]nations ^H1471.

2 “He will not cry ^H6817 out ^H6817 or raise ^H5375 His voice,

Nor ^H3808 make ^H8085 His voice ^H6963 heard ^H8085 in the street ^H2351.

3 “A crushed ^H7533 reed ^H7070 He will not break ^H7665

And a faintly ^H3544 burning wick ^H6594 He will not extinguish ^H3518;

He will bring ^H3318 forth ^H3318 justice ^H4941 in truth ^H571.

4 “He will not be faint ^H3543 or crushed ^H7533

Until ^H5704 He has established ^H7760 justice ^H4941 in the earth ^H776;

And the coastlands ^H339 will wait ^H3176 expectantly ^H3176 for His [fn]law ^H8451.”

5 Thus ^H3541 says ^H559 the God ^H410, Yahweh ^H3068,

Who created ^H1254 the heavens ^H8064 and stretched ^H5186 them out ^H5186,

Who spread ^H7554 out ^H7554 the earth ^H776 and its [fn]offspring ^H6631,

Who gives ^H5414 breath ^H5397 to the people ^H5971 on it

And spirit ^H7307 to those who walk ^H1980 in it,

6 “I am Yahweh ^H3068, I have called ^H7121 You in ^H7121 righteousness ^H6664;

I will also take ^H2388 hold ^H2388 of You by the hand ^H3027 and guard ^H5341 You,

And I will give ^H5414 You as a covenant ^H1285 to the people ^H5971,

As a light ^H216 to the nations ^H1471,

7 To open ^H6491 blind ^H5787 eyes ^H5869,

To bring ^H3318 out ^H3318 prisoners ^H616 from the dungeon ^H4525

And those who inhabit ^H3427 darkness ^H2822 from the prison ^H1004 H3608.

8 “I am Yahweh ^H3068, that is My name ^H8034;

I will not give ^H5414 My glory ^H3519 to another ^H312,

Nor ^H3808 My praise ^H8416 to [fn]graven ^H6456 images ^H6456.

9 “Behold ^H2009, the former ^H7223 things ^H7223 have come ^H935 to pass ^H935;

Now I declare ^H5046 new ^H2319 things ^H2319;

Before ^H2962 they spring ^H6779 forth ^H6779 I cause ^H8085 you to hear ^H8085 them.”

10 Sing ^H7891 to Yahweh ^H3068 a new ^H2319 song ^H7892,

Sing His praise ^H8416 from the end ^H7097 of the earth ^H776!

You who go ^H3381 down ^H3381 to the sea ^H3220, as well as its fullness ^H4393.

You coastlands ^H339, and those who inhabit ^H3427 them.

11 Let the wilderness ^H4057 and its cities ^H5892 lift ^H5375 up ^H5375 their voices,

The villages ^H2691 where Kedar ^H6938 inhabits ^H3427.

Let the inhabitants ^H3427 of Sela ^H5553 sing ^H7442 aloud ^H7442,

Let them shout ^H6681 for ^H6681 joy ^H6681 from the tops ^H7218 of the mountains ^H2022.

12 Let them give ^H7760 glory ^H3519 to Yahweh ^H3068

And declare ^H5046 His praise ^H8416 in the coastlands ^H339.

13 Yahweh ^H3068 will go ^H3318 forth ^H3318 like a warrior ^H1368;

He will awaken ^H5782 His zeal ^H7068 like a man ^H376 of war ^H4421.

He will make ^H7321 a ^H7321 loud ^H7321 shout ^H7321, indeed ^H637, He will raise ^H6873 a ^H6873 war ^H6873 cry ^H6873.

He will prevail ^H1396 against ^H5921 His enemies ^H340.

Israel’s Blindness and Deafness

14 “I have kept ^H2814 silent ^H2814 for a long ^H5769 time ^H5769;

I have kept ^H2814 still ^H2790 and restrained ^H662 Myself.

Now like a woman in ^H3205 labor ^H3205 I will groan ^H6463;

I will both ^H3162 gasp ^H5395 and pant ^H7602.

15 “I will lay ^H2717 waste ^H2717 the mountains ^H2022 and hills ^H1389

And dry ^H3001 up ^H3001 all ^H3605 their vegetation ^H6212;

I will make ^H7760 the rivers ^H5104 into coastlands ^H339

And dry ^H3001 up ^H3001 the pools ^H98 of waters.

16 “I will lead ^H1980 the blind ^H5787 by a way ^H1870 they do not know ^H3045,

In paths ^H5410 they do not know ^H3045 I will guide ^H1869 them.

I will make ^H7760 darkness ^H4285 into light ^H216 before ^H6440 them

And rugged ^H4625 places ^H4625 into plains ^H4334.

These ^H428 are the things ^H1697 I will do ^H6213,

And I will not forsake ^H5800 them.”

17 They will be turned ^H5472 back ^H268 and be utterly ^H954 put ^H954 to ^H954 shame ^H954,

Who trust ^H982 in graven ^H6459 images ^H6459,

Who say ^H559 to molten ^H4541 images ^H4541,

“You are our gods ^H430.”

18 Hear ^H8085, you deaf ^H2795!

And look ^H5027, you blind ^H5787, that you may see ^H7200.

19 Who ^H4310 is blind ^H5787 but My servant ^H5650,

Or so deaf ^H2795 as My messenger ^H4397 whom I send ^H7971?

Who ^H4310 is so blind ^H5787 as he that is [fn]at peace ^H7999 with Me,

Or so blind ^H5787 as the servant ^H5650 of Yahweh ^H3068?

20 You have seen ^H7200 many ^H7227 things ^H7227, but you do not keep ^H8104 them;

Your ears ^H241 are open ^H6491, but none ^H3808 hears ^H8085.

21 Yahweh ^H3068 was pleased ^H2654 for His righteousness’ ^H6664 sake ^H4616

That He make ^H1431 the law ^H8451 great ^H1431 and majestic ^H142.

22 But this ^H1931 is a people ^H5971 plundered ^H962 and pillaged as spoil ^H8154;

All ^H3605 of them are trapped ^H6351 in [fn]caves ^H2352,

Or are hidden ^H2244 away in prisons ^H3608;

They have become ^H1961 a plunder ^H957 with none ^H369 to deliver ^H5337 them,

And a spoil ^H4933, with none ^H369 to say ^H559, “Have ^H7725 them return ^H7725!”

23 Who ^H4310 among you will give ^H238 ear ^H238 to this ^H2088?

Who will give ^H7181 heed ^H7181 and hear ^H8085 hereafter ^H268?

24 Who ^H4310 gave ^H5414 Jacob ^H3290 up ^H5414 for spoil ^H4933, and Israel ^H3478 to plunderers ^H962?

Was it not Yahweh ^H3068, against whom ^H2098 we have sinned ^H2398,

And in whose ways ^H1870 they were ^H14 not willing ^H14 to walk ^H1980,

And whose law ^H8451 they did not obey ^H8085?

25 So He poured ^H8210 out ^H8210 on him the heat ^H2534 of His anger ^H639

And the fierceness ^H5807 of battle ^H4421;

And it set ^H3857 him aflame ^H3857 all ^H4480 H5439 around ^H5439,

Yet he did not know ^H3045 it;

And it burned ^H1197 him, but he did not ^H3808 set ^H7760 it upon ^H5921 his heart ^H3820.
