Atonement After Giving Birth
1 Then Yahweh H3068 spoke H1696 to Moses H4872, saying H559,
2 “Speak H1696 to the sons H1121 of Israel H3478, saying H559:
‘When H3588 a woman H802 [fn]gives H2232 birth H2232 and bears H3205 a male H2145 child, then she shall be H2930 unclean H2930 for seven H7651 days H3117, as in the days H3117 of [fn]her menstruation H5079 H1738 she shall be H2930 unclean H2930. 3 Now on the eighth H8066 day H3117 the flesh H1320 of his foreskin H6190 shall be circumcised H4135. 4 Then she shall remain H3427 in the blood H1818 of her cleansing H2893 for thirty-three H7970 H7969 days H3117; she shall not touch H5060 any H3605 holy H6944 thing H6944; and she shall not H3808 enter H935 the sanctuary H4720 until H5704 the days H3117 of her cleansing H2892 are fulfilled H4390. 5 But if H518 she bears H3205 a female H5347 child, then she shall be H2930 unclean H2930 for two weeks H7620, as in her [fn]menstruation H5079; and she shall remain H3427 in the blood H1818 of her cleansing H2893 for sixty-six H8346 H8337 days H3117.
6 ‘When the days H3117 of her cleansing H2892 are fulfilled H4390, for a son H1121 or H176 for a daughter H1323, she shall bring H935 to the priest H3548 at the doorway H6607 of the tent H168 of meeting H4150 a one year H8141 old H1121 lamb H3532 for a burnt H5930 offering H5930 and a young H1121 pigeon H3123 or H176 a turtledove H8449 for a sin H2403 offering H2403. 7 Then he shall bring H7126 it near H7126 before H6440 Yahweh H3068 and make H3722 atonement H3722 for her, and she shall be cleansed H2891 from the [fn]flow H4726 of her blood H1818. This H2088 is the law H8451 for her who bears H3205 a child, whether a male H2145 or H176 a female H5347. 8 But if H518 [fn]she cannot H3808 afford H4672 H3027 a lamb H7716, then she shall take H3947 two H8147 turtledoves H8449 or H176 two H8147 young H1121 pigeons H3123, the one H259 for a burnt H5930 offering H5930 and the other H259 for a sin H2403 offering H2403; and the priest H3548 shall make H3722 atonement H3722 for her, and she will be H2891 clean H2891.’”
