Yahweh Is Holy

1 Then Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559:

2 “Speak ^H1696 to all ^H3605 the congregation ^H5712 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 and say ^H559 to them, ‘You shall be holy ^H6918, for I, Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, am holy ^H6918.

3 Every ^H376 one ^H376 of you shall fear ^H3372 his mother ^H517 and his father ^H1, and you shall keep ^H8104 My sabbaths ^H7676; I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430. 4 Do not turn ^H6437 to idols ^H457 or make ^H6213 for yourselves molten ^H4541 gods ^H430; I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.

5 ‘Now when ^H3588 you offer ^H2076 a sacrifice ^H2077 of peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002 to Yahweh ^H3068, you shall offer ^H2076 it so that you may be accepted ^H7522. 6 It shall be eaten ^H398 the same day ^H3117 you offer ^H2077 it and the next ^H4283 day ^H4283; but what remains ^H3498 until ^H5704 the third ^H7992 day ^H3117 shall be burned ^H8313 with fire ^H784. 7 So if ^H518 it is eaten ^H398 at ^H398 all ^H398 on the third ^H7992 day ^H3117, it is an offense ^H6292; it will not be accepted ^H7521. 8 And everyone who eats ^H398 it will bear ^H5375 his iniquity ^H5771, for he has profaned ^H2490 the holy ^H6944 thing ^H6944 of Yahweh ^H3068; and that person ^H5315 shall be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from his people ^H5971.

9 ‘Now when you reap ^H7114 the harvest ^H7105 of your land ^H776, you shall not reap ^H7114 to the very corners ^H6285 of your field ^H7704, nor ^H3808 shall you gather ^H3950 the gleanings ^H3951 of your harvest ^H7105.

10 Nor ^H3808 shall you glean ^H5953 your vineyard ^H3754, nor ^H3808 shall you gather ^H3950 the fallen ^H6528 fruit ^H6528 of your vineyard ^H3754; you shall leave ^H5800 them for the afflicted ^H6041 and for the sojourner ^H1616. I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.

11 ‘You shall not steal ^H1589, nor ^H3808 deal ^H3584 falsely ^H3584, nor ^H3808 lie ^H8266 to one ^H376 another ^H5997. 12 And you shall not swear ^H7650 falsely ^H8267 by My name ^H8034, so as to profane ^H2455 the name ^H8034 of your God ^H430; I am Yahweh ^H3068.

13 ‘You shall not oppress ^H6231 your neighbor ^H7453 nor ^H3808 rob ^H1497 him. The wages ^H6468 of a hired ^H7916 man ^H7916 shall not remain ^H3885 with you overnight ^H3885 until ^H5704 morning ^H1242. 14 You shall not curse ^H7043 a deaf ^H2795 man ^H2795 nor ^H3808 place ^H5414 a stumbling ^H4383 block ^H4383 before ^H6440 the blind ^H5787, but you shall fear ^H3372 your God ^H430; I am Yahweh ^H3068.

15 ‘You shall do ^H6213 no injustice ^H5766 in judgment ^H4941; you shall not be partial ^H5375 H6440 to the poor ^H1800 nor ^H3808 defer ^H1921 H6440 to the great ^H1419, but you shall judge ^H8199 your neighbor ^H5997 in righteousness ^H6664. 16 You shall not go ^H1980 about ^H1980 as a slanderer ^H7400 among your people ^H5971, and you shall not stand ^H5975 against ^H5921 the [fn]life ^H1818 of your neighbor ^H7453; I am Yahweh ^H3068.

17 ‘You shall not hate ^H8130 your brother ^H251 in your heart ^H3824; you may surely ^H3198 reprove ^H3198 your neighbor ^H5997, and so not bear ^H5375 sin ^H2399 because ^H5921 of him. 18 You shall not take ^H5358 vengeance ^H5358, and you shall not ^H3808 keep ^H5201 your anger against ^H854 the sons ^H1121 of your people ^H5971, but you shall love ^H157 your neighbor ^H7453 as yourself; I am Yahweh ^H3068.

19 ‘You are to keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2708. You shall not breed ^H7250 together ^H7250 two ^H3610 kinds ^H3610 of your cattle ^H929; you shall not sow ^H2232 your field ^H7704 with two ^H3610 kinds ^H3610 of seed nor ^H3808 wear ^H5927 a garment ^H899 upon you of two ^H3610 kinds ^H3610 of material ^H8162 mixed ^H8162 together ^H8162.

20 ‘Now if ^H3588 a man ^H376 lies ^H7901 sexually ^H7902 H2233 with a woman ^H802 who ^H1931 is a slave ^H8198 assigned ^H2778 to another man ^H376, but who has in ^H6299 no ^H3808 way ^H6299 been redeemed ^H6299 nor ^H3808 given ^H5414 her freedom ^H2668, there shall be punishment ^H1244; they shall not, however, be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191 because ^H3588 she was not free ^H2666. 21 And he shall bring ^H935 his guilt ^H817 offering ^H817 to Yahweh ^H3068 to the doorway ^H6607 of the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150, a ram ^H352 for a guilt ^H817 offering ^H817. 22 The priest ^H3548 shall also make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for him with the ram ^H352 of the guilt ^H817 offering ^H817 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 for his sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he has committed ^H2398, and the sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he has committed ^H2398 will be forgiven ^H5545 him.

23 ‘When ^H3588 you enter ^H935 the land ^H776 and plant ^H5193 all ^H3605 kinds of trees ^H6086 for food ^H3978, then you shall designate ^H6188 their fruit ^H6529 as [fn]forbidden ^H6190. Three ^H7969 years ^H8141 it shall be [fn]forbidden ^H6189 to you; it shall not be eaten ^H398. 24 But in the fourth ^H7243 year ^H8141 all ^H3605 its fruit ^H6529 shall be holy ^H6944, an offering of praise ^H1974 to Yahweh ^H3068. 25 Now in the fifth ^H2549 year ^H8141 you shall eat ^H398 of its fruit ^H6529, that its produce ^H8393 may increase ^H8393 for you; I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.

26 ‘You shall not eat ^H398 anything with the blood ^H1818 nor ^H3808 interpret ^H5172 omens ^H5172 or soothsaying ^H6049. 27 You shall not round ^H5362 off ^H5362 the side-growth ^H6285 of your heads ^H7218 nor ^H3808 harm ^H7843 the edges ^H6285 of your beard ^H2206. 28 And you shall not make ^H5414 any cuts ^H8296 in your [fn]body ^H1320 for the [fn]dead ^H5315 nor ^H3808 make ^H5414 any tattoo ^H3793 H7085 marks ^H3793 on yourselves: I am Yahweh ^H3068.

29 ‘Do not [fn]profane ^H2455 your daughter ^H1323 by making ^H2181 her a ^H2181 harlot ^H2181, so that the land ^H776 will not fall ^H2181 to harlotry ^H2181 and the land ^H776 become ^H4390 full ^H4390 of lewdness ^H2154. 30 You shall keep ^H8104 My sabbaths ^H7676 and fear ^H3372 My sanctuary ^H4720; I am Yahweh ^H3068.

31 ‘Do not turn ^H6437 to [fn]mediums ^H178 or spiritists ^H3049; do not seek ^H1245 them out ^H1245 to be defiled ^H2930 by them. I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.

32 ‘You shall rise ^H6965 up ^H6965 before ^H4480 H6440 the gray-haired ^H7872 and honor ^H1921 the [fn]aged ^H6440 H2205, and you shall fear ^H3372 your God ^H430; I am Yahweh ^H3068.

33 ‘And when ^H3588 a sojourner ^H1616 sojourns ^H1481 with you in your land ^H776, you shall not mistreat ^H3238 him. 34 The sojourner ^H1616 who sojourns ^H1481 with you shall be to you as the native ^H249 among ^H854 you, and you shall love ^H157 him as yourself, for you were sojourners ^H1616 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714; I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430.

35 ‘You shall do ^H6213 no ^H3808 wrong ^H5766 in judgment ^H4941, in measurement ^H4060 of weight ^H4948, or in volume ^H4884. 36 You shall have ^H1961 [fn]just ^H6664 balances ^H3976, [fn]just ^H6664 weights ^H68, a [fn]just ^H6664 [fn]ephah ^H374, and a [fn]just ^H6664 [fn]hin ^H1969; I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, who ^H834 brought ^H3318 you out ^H3318 from the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 37 You shall thus keep ^H8104 all ^H3605 My statutes ^H2708 and all ^H3605 My judgments ^H4941 and do ^H6213 them; I am Yahweh ^H3068.’”
