I Will Curse Your Blessings

1 “And now ^H6258 this ^H2088 commandment ^H4687 is for you, O priests ^H3548.

2 If ^H518 you do not listen ^H8085, and if ^H518 you do not set ^H7760 it upon your heart ^H3820 to give ^H5414 [fn]honor ^H3519 to My name ^H8034,” says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635, “then I will send ^H7971 the curse ^H3994 upon you, and I will curse ^H779 your blessings ^H1293; and indeed ^H1571, I have cursed ^H779 them already because ^H3588 you are not setting ^H7760 it upon your heart ^H3820. 3 Behold ^H2009, I am going to rebuke ^H1605 your seed ^H2233, and I will spread ^H2219 [fn]refuse ^H6569 on your faces ^H6440, the [fn]refuse ^H6569 of your feasts ^H2282; and you will be taken ^H5375 away [fn]with it. 4 Then you will know ^H3045 that I have sent ^H7971 this ^H2088 commandment ^H4687 to you, [fn]that My covenant ^H1285 may [fn]continue ^H1961 with Levi ^H3878,” says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635. 5 “My covenant ^H1285 with him was one of life ^H2416 and peace ^H7965, and I gave ^H5414 them to him as something to be [fn]feared ^H4172; so he feared ^H3372 Me and stood ^H2865 in ^H2865 [fn]awe ^H2865 of My name ^H8034. 6 [fn]Instruction ^H8451 of truth ^H571 was in his mouth ^H6310, and unrighteousness ^H5766 was not found ^H4672 on his lips ^H8193; he walked ^H1980 with Me in peace ^H7965 and uprightness ^H4334, and he turned ^H7725 many ^H7227 back ^H7725 from iniquity ^H5771. 7 For the lips ^H8193 of a priest ^H3548 should keep ^H8104 knowledge ^H1847, and [fn]men should seek ^H1245 [fn]instruction ^H8451 from his mouth ^H6310; for he is the messenger ^H4397 of Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635. 8 But as for you, you have turned ^H5493 aside ^H5493 from the way ^H1870; you have caused many ^H7227 to stumble ^H3782 [fn]by the instruction ^H8451; you have [fn]corrupted ^H7843 the covenant ^H1285 of Levi ^H3878,” says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635. 9 “So I also ^H1571 have made ^H5414 you despised ^H959 and low ^H8217 [fn]before all ^H3605 the people ^H5971, just ^H6310 H834 as you are not keeping ^H8104 My ways ^H1870 but are showing ^H5375 partiality ^H5375 H6440 in the [fn]instruction ^H8451.

Judah Profaned Yahweh’s Sanctuary

10 “Do we not all ^H3605 have one ^H259 father ^H1? Has not one ^H259 God ^H410 created ^H1254 us? Why ^H4069 do we deal ^H898 treacherously ^H898 each ^H376 against his brother ^H251 so as to profane ^H2490 the covenant ^H1285 of our fathers ^H1?

11 Judah ^H3063 has dealt ^H898 treacherously ^H898, and an abomination ^H8441 has been done ^H6213 in Israel ^H3478 and in Jerusalem ^H3389; for Judah ^H3063 has profaned ^H2490 the sanctuary ^H6944 of Yahweh ^H3068 [fn]which ^H834 He loves ^H157 and has married ^H1166 the daughter ^H1323 of a foreign ^H5236 god ^H410. 12 As for the man ^H376 who ^H834 does ^H6213 this, may Yahweh ^H3068 cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from the tents ^H168 of Jacob ^H3290 everyone who awakes ^H5782 and answers ^H6030 or who presents ^H5066 [fn]an offering ^H4503 to Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635.

13 “And this ^H2088 is a second ^H8145 thing ^H8145 you do ^H6213: you cover ^H3680 the altar ^H4196 of Yahweh ^H3068 with tears ^H1832, with weeping ^H1065, and with groaning ^H603 because ^H4480 He no ^H369 longer ^H5750 regards ^H6437 the [fn]offering ^H4503 or receives ^H3947 it as acceptable ^H7522 from your hand ^H3027. 14 But you say ^H559, ‘For ^H5921 what ^H4100 reason ^H5921 H4100?’ Because ^H5921 H3588 Yahweh ^H3068 has been ^H5749 a ^H5749 witness ^H5749 between ^H996 you and the wife ^H802 of your youth ^H5271, against whom ^H834 you have dealt ^H898 treacherously ^H898, though she is your companion ^H2278 and your wife ^H802 by covenant ^H1285. 15 [fn]But not one ^H259 has done ^H6213 so, even one who has a remnant ^H7605 of the Spirit ^H7307. And [fn]what ^H4100 did that one ^H259 do while he was seeking ^H1245 a godly ^H430 seed ^H2233? Be ^H8104 careful ^H8104 then to ^H8104 keep ^H8104 your spirit ^H7307, and let no ^H408 one deal ^H898 treacherously ^H898 against the wife ^H802 of your youth ^H5271. 16 For [fn]I hate ^H8130 [fn]divorce ^H7971,” says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, “and [fn]him who covers ^H3680 his garment ^H3830 with [fn]wrong ^H2555,” says ^H559 Yahweh ^H3068 of hosts ^H6635. “Be ^H8104 careful ^H8104 then to ^H8104 keep ^H8104 your spirit ^H7307, that you do not deal ^H898 treacherously ^H898.”

17 You have wearied ^H3021 Yahweh ^H3068 with your words ^H1697. But you say ^H559, “How ^H4100 have we wearied ^H3021 Him?” In that you say ^H559, “Everyone ^H3605 who does ^H6213 evil ^H7451 is good ^H2896 in the sight ^H5869 of Yahweh ^H3068, and He delights ^H2654 in them,” or ^H176, “Where ^H346 is the God ^H430 of justice ^H4941?”
