Results of Justification by Faith

1 Therefore ^G3767, having been justified ^G1344 by faith ^G4102, [fn]we have ^G2192 peace ^G1515 with God ^G2316 through ^G1223 our Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547,

2 through ^G1223 whom ^G3739 also ^G2532 we have obtained ^G2192 our introduction ^G4318 by faith ^G4102 into this ^G3778 grace ^G5485 in which ^G3739 we stand ^G2476; and [fn]we boast ^G2744 in hope ^G1680 of the glory ^G1391 of God ^G2316. 3 And not only ^G3440 this, but [fn]we also ^G2532 boast ^G2744 in our afflictions ^G2347, knowing ^G6063 that affliction ^G2347 brings ^G2716 about ^G2716 perseverance ^G5281; 4 and perseverance ^G5281, proven ^G1382 character ^G1382; and proven ^G1382 character ^G1382, hope ^G1680; 5 and hope ^G1680 does not put ^G2617 to shame ^G2617, because ^G3754 the love ^G26 of God ^G2316 has been poured ^G1632 out ^G1632 within ^G1722 our hearts ^G2588 through ^G1223 the Holy ^G40 Spirit ^G4151 who was given ^G1325 to us.

6 For while we were still ^G2089 weak ^G772, at the right ^G2540 time ^G2540 Christ ^G5547 died ^G599 for the ungodly ^G765. 7 For one ^G5100 will hardly ^G3433 die ^G599 for a righteous ^G1342 man ^G1342, [fn]though ^G1063 perhaps ^G5029 for the good ^G18 man ^G18 someone ^G5100 would dare ^G5111 even ^G2532 to die ^G599. 8 But God ^G2316 demonstrates ^G4921 His own ^G1438 love ^G26 toward ^G1519 us, in that while we were yet ^G2089 sinners ^G268, Christ ^G5547 died ^G599 for us. 9 Much ^G4183 more ^G3123 then ^G3767, having now ^G3568 been justified ^G1344 [fn]by His blood ^G129, we shall be saved ^G4982 from the wrath ^G3709 of God through ^G1223 Him. 10 For if ^G1487 while we were enemies ^G2190 we were reconciled ^G2644 to God ^G2316 through ^G1223 the death ^G2288 of His Son ^G5207, much ^G4183 more ^G3123, having been reconciled ^G2644, we shall be saved ^G4982 [fn]by His life ^G2222. 11 And not only ^G3440 this, [fn]but we also ^G2532 boast ^G2744 in God ^G2316 through ^G1223 our Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547, through ^G1223 whom ^G3739 we have now ^G3568 received ^G2983 the reconciliation ^G2643.

The Gift of Righteousness in Christ

12 Therefore ^G1223 G3778, just ^G5618 as through ^G1223 one ^G1520 man ^G444 sin ^G266 entered ^G1525 into the world ^G2889, and death ^G2288 through ^G1223 sin ^G266, and so ^G3779 death ^G2288 spread ^G1330 to all ^G3956 men ^G444, because ^G1909 G3739 all ^G3956 sinned ^G264—

13 for [fn]until ^G891 the Law ^G3551 sin ^G266 was in the world ^G2889, but sin ^G266 is not imputed ^G1677 when there is no ^G3361 law ^G3551. 14 Nevertheless ^G235 death ^G2288 reigned ^G936 from Adam ^G76 until ^G3360 Moses ^G3475, even ^G2532 over ^G1909 those ^G3588 who had not sinned ^G264 in the likeness ^G3667 of the trespass ^G3847 of Adam ^G76, who ^G3739 is a [fn]type ^G5179 of Him who was to ^G3195 come ^G3195.

15 But [fn]the gracious ^G5486 gift ^G5486 is not like ^G5613 the transgression ^G3900. For if ^G1487 by the transgression ^G3900 of the one ^G1520 the many ^G4183 died ^G599, much ^G4183 more ^G3123 did the grace ^G5485 of God ^G2316 and the gift ^G1431 by the grace ^G5485 of the one ^G1520 Man ^G444, Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547, abound ^G4052 to the many ^G4183. 16 And the gift ^G1434 is not like ^G5613 that which came through ^G1223 the one ^G1520 who sinned ^G264; for on the one ^G3303 hand ^G3303 the judgment ^G2917 arose from one ^G1520 transgression [fn]resulting ^G1519 in ^G1519 condemnation ^G2631, but on the other ^G1161 hand ^G1161 the gracious ^G5486 gift ^G5486 arose from many ^G4183 transgressions ^G3900 [fn]resulting ^G1519 in ^G1519 justification ^G1345. 17 For if ^G1487 by the transgression ^G3900 of the one ^G1520, death ^G2288 reigned ^G936 through ^G1223 the one ^G1520, much ^G4183 more ^G3123 those ^G3588 who receive ^G2983 the abundance ^G4050 of grace ^G5485 and of the gift ^G1431 of righteousness ^G1343 will reign ^G936 in life ^G2222 through ^G1223 the One ^G1520, Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547.

18 So ^G686 then ^G686 as through ^G1223 one ^G1520 transgression ^G3900 [fn]there resulted ^G1519 condemnation ^G2631 to all ^G3956 men ^G444, even ^G2532 so ^G3779 through ^G1223 one ^G1520 act ^G1345 of ^G1345 righteousness ^G1345 [fn]there resulted ^G1519 justification ^G1347 of life ^G2222 to all ^G3956 men ^G444. 19 For as through ^G1223 the one ^G1520 man’s ^G444 disobedience ^G3876 the many ^G4183 were appointed ^G2525 sinners ^G268, even ^G2532 so ^G3779 through ^G1223 the obedience ^G5218 of the One ^G1520 the many ^G4183 will be appointed ^G2525 righteous ^G1342. 20 Now [fn]the Law ^G3551 came ^G3922 in ^G3922 so ^G2443 that the transgression ^G3900 would increase ^G4121, but where ^G3757 sin ^G266 increased ^G4121, grace ^G5485 abounded ^G5248 all ^G5248 the ^G5248 more ^G5248, 21 so ^G3779 that, as sin ^G266 reigned ^G936 in death ^G2288, even ^G2532 so ^G3779 grace ^G5485 would reign ^G936 through ^G1223 righteousness ^G1343 to eternal ^G166 life ^G2222 through ^G1223 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547 our Lord ^G2962.
