Abram and Lot Separate

1 So Abram ^H87 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 from Egypt ^H4714 to the [fn]Negev ^H5045, he and his wife ^H802 and all ^H3605 that belonged to him, and Lot ^H3876 with him.

2 Now Abram ^H87 was very ^H3966 rich ^H3515 in livestock ^H4735, in silver ^H3701 and in gold ^H2091.

3 And he went ^H1980 [fn]on his journeys ^H4550 from the [fn]Negev ^H5045 as far ^H5704 as Bethel ^H1008, to the place ^H4725 where ^H834 H8033 his tent ^H168 had been ^H1961 at the beginning ^H8462, between ^H996 Bethel ^H1008 and Ai ^H5857, 4 to the place ^H4725 of the altar ^H4196 which ^H834 he had made ^H6213 there ^H8033 formerly ^H7223; and there ^H8033 Abram ^H87 called ^H7121 upon the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068.

Now the Canaanite ^H3669 and the Perizzite ^H6522 were living ^H3427 then ^H227 in the land ^H776.

8 So Abram ^H87 said ^H559 to Lot ^H3876, “Please ^H4994 let there be no ^H408 strife ^H4808 between ^H996 you and me, nor between ^H996 my herdsmen ^H7462 and your herdsmen ^H7462, for we are brothers ^H251. 9 Is not the whole ^H3605 land ^H776 before ^H6440 you? Please ^H4994 separate ^H6504 from me; if ^H518 to the left ^H8040, then I will go ^H3231 to the right ^H3231; or if ^H518 to the right ^H3225, then I will go ^H8041 to the left ^H8041.” 10 Then Lot ^H3876 lifted ^H5375 up ^H5375 his eyes ^H5869 and saw ^H7200 all ^H3605 the [fn]valley ^H3603 of the Jordan ^H3383, that it was well ^H4945 watered ^H4945 everywhere ^H3605—this was before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 destroyed ^H7843 Sodom ^H5467 and Gomorrah ^H6017—like the garden ^H1588 of Yahweh ^H3068, like the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 as you go ^H935 to Zoar ^H6820. 11 So Lot ^H3876 chose ^H977 for himself all ^H3605 the [fn]valley ^H3603 of the Jordan ^H3383, and Lot ^H3876 journeyed ^H5265 eastward ^H6924. Thus they separated ^H6504 from each ^H376 other ^H251. 12 Abram ^H87 lived ^H3427 in the land ^H776 of Canaan ^H3667, while Lot ^H3876 lived ^H3427 in the cities ^H5892 of the [fn]valley ^H3603 and moved ^H167 his tents ^H167 as far ^H5704 as Sodom ^H5467. 13 Now the men ^H376 of Sodom ^H5467 were evil ^H7451 and sinners ^H2400, exceedingly ^H3966 so, against Yahweh ^H3068.

14 And Yahweh ^H3068 said ^H559 to Abram ^H87, after ^H310 Lot ^H3876 had separated ^H6504 from him, “Now ^H4994 lift ^H5375 up ^H5375 your eyes ^H5869 and look ^H7200 from the place ^H4725 where ^H834 H8033 you are, northward ^H6828 and southward ^H5045 and eastward ^H6924 and westward ^H3220; 15 for all ^H3605 the land ^H776 which ^H834 you see ^H7200, I will give ^H5414 it to you and to your seed ^H2233 forever ^H5704 H5769. 16 And I will make ^H7760 your seed ^H2233 as the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776, so ^H834 that ^H834 if ^H518 anyone ^H376 can ^H3201 number ^H4487 the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776, then your seed ^H2233 can also ^H1571 be numbered ^H4487. 17 Arise ^H6965, walk ^H1980 about ^H1980 the land ^H776 through its length ^H753 and breadth ^H7341; for I will give ^H5414 it to you.” 18 Then Abram ^H87 moved ^H167 his tent ^H167 and came ^H935 and lived ^H3427 by the [fn]oaks ^H436 of Mamre ^H4471, which ^H834 are in Hebron ^H2275, and there ^H8033 he built ^H1129 an altar ^H4196 to Yahweh ^H3068.
