The Death and Resurrection of Lazarus

1 Now ^G1161 a certain ^G5100 man ^G5100 was sick ^G770, Lazarus ^G2976 from Bethany ^G963, the village ^G2968 of Mary ^G3137 and her sister ^G79 Martha ^G3136.

2 And it was the Mary ^G3137 who anointed ^G218 the Lord ^G2962 with perfume ^G3464, and wiped ^G1591 His feet ^G4228 with her hair ^G2359, whose ^G3739 brother ^G80 Lazarus ^G2976 was sick ^G770. 3 So ^G3767 the sisters ^G79 sent ^G649 to Him, saying ^G3004, “Lord ^G2962, behold ^G2396, he whom ^G3739 You love ^G5368 is sick ^G770.” 4 But when Jesus ^G2424 heard ^G191 this, He said ^G3004, “This ^G3778 sickness ^G769 is not to end ^G4314 in death ^G2288, but is for the glory ^G1391 of God ^G2316, so ^G2443 that the Son ^G5207 of God ^G2316 may be glorified ^G1392 by it.” 5 Now ^G1161 Jesus ^G2424 loved ^G25 Martha ^G3136 and her sister ^G79 and Lazarus ^G2976. 6 So ^G3767 when ^G5613 He heard ^G191 that he was sick ^G770, He then ^G5119 stayed ^G3306 two ^G1417 days ^G2250 in the place ^G5117 where ^G3739 He was. 7 Then ^G1899 after ^G3326 this ^G3778 He *said ^G3004 to the disciples ^G3101, “Let us go ^G71 to Judea ^G2449 again ^G3825.” 8 The disciples ^G3101 *said ^G3004 to Him, “Rabbi ^G4461, the Jews ^G2453 were just ^G3568 now ^G3568 seeking ^G2212 to stone ^G3034 You, and are You going ^G5217 there ^G1563 again ^G3825?” 9 Jesus ^G2424 answered ^G611, “Are there ^G1563 not twelve ^G1427 hours ^G5610 in the day ^G2250? 45 Therefore ^G3767 many ^G4183 of the Jews ^G2453 who came ^G2064 to Mary ^G3137, and saw ^G2300 what ^G3739 He had done ^G4160, believed ^G4100 in Him. 46 But some ^G5100 of them went ^G565 to the Pharisees ^G5330 and told ^G3004 them the things which ^G3739 Jesus ^G2424 had done ^G4160.

The Leaders Plot to Kill Jesus

47 Therefore ^G3767 the chief ^G749 priests ^G749 and the Pharisees ^G5330 gathered ^G4863 the [fn]Sanhedrin ^G4892 together ^G4863, and were saying ^G3004, “What ^G5101 are we doing ^G4160? For this ^G3778 man ^G444 is doing ^G4160 many ^G4183 [fn]signs ^G4592.
