Hope in Yahweh and He Will Save You

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:1 -

Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler,

And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:2 -

The terror of a king is like the roar of a lion;

He who provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:3 -

It is a glory for a man to cease quarreling,

But any ignorant fool will break out in dispute.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:4 -

The sluggard does not plow from winter on,

So he [fn]begs during the harvest and has nothing.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:5 -

Counsel in the heart of a man is like deep water,

But a man of discernment draws it out.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:6 -

Many a man will call out his own lovingkindness,

But a faithful man, who can find?

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:7 -

A righteous man who walks in his integrity

How blessed are his sons after him.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:8 -

A king who sits on the throne of justice

[fn]Disperses all evil with his eyes.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:9 -

Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure,

I am clean from my sin”?

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:10 -

[fn]Differing weights and differing measures,

Both of them are an abomination to Yahweh.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:11 -

It is by his deeds that a young man makes himself known

If his conduct is pure and right.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:12 -

The hearing ear and the seeing eye,

Yahweh has made both of them.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:13 -

Do not love sleep, lest you become poor;

Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with [fn]food.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:14 -

“Bad, bad,” says the buyer,

But when he goes his way, then he boasts.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:15 -

There is gold, and an abundance of pearls;

But the lips of knowledge are a more precious vessel.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:16 -

Take his garment when he becomes a guarantor for a stranger;

And for foreigners, hold him in pledge.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:17 -

Bread obtained by lying is sweet to a man,

But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:18 -

[fn]Thoughts are established by counsel,

So make war by guidance.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:19 -

He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets,

Therefore do not associate with [fn]one of loose lips.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:20 -

He who curses his father or his mother,

His lamp will go out in the [fn]midst of darkness.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:21 -

An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning

In the end will not be blessed.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:22 -

Do not say, “I will repay evil”;

Hope in Yahweh, and He will save you.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:23 -

[fn]Differing weights are an abomination to Yahweh,

And a deceitful balance is not good.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:24 -

The steps of a man are from Yahweh,

How then can man understand his way?

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:25 -

It is a trap for a man to say rashly, “It is holy!”

And after the vows to make inquiry.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:26 -

A wise king winnows the wicked,

And turns the threshing wheel over them.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:27 -

The [fn]breath of man is the lamp of Yahweh,

Searching all the [fn]innermost parts of his body.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:28 -

Lovingkindness and truth will guard the king,

And he upholds his throne by lovingkindness.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:29 -

The honor of young men is their strength,

And the [fn]majesty of old men is their gray hair.

Unchecked Copy BoxPro 20:30 -

Stripes that wound scour away evil,

And strokes reach the [fn]innermost parts of the body.
