My Son, Fear Yahweh

1 Do not be ^H7065 jealous ^H7065 of evil ^H7451 men ^H376,

And do not ^H408 desire ^H183 to be with them;

2 For their heart ^H3820 meditates ^H1897 on destruction ^H7701,

And their lips ^H8193 talk ^H1696 of mischief ^H5999.

3 By wisdom ^H2451 a house ^H1004 is built ^H1129,

And by discernment ^H8394 it is firmly established ^H3559;

4 And by knowledge ^H1847 the rooms ^H2315 are filled ^H4390

With all ^H3605 precious ^H3368 and pleasant ^H5273 riches ^H1952.

5 A wise ^H2450 man ^H1397 is [fn]strong ^H5797,

And a man ^H376 of knowledge ^H1847 strengthens ^H553 his power ^H3581.

6 For by guidance ^H8458 you will make ^H6213 war ^H4421,

And in abundance ^H7230 of counselors ^H3289 there is salvation ^H8668.

7 Wisdom ^H2451 is too exalted ^H7311 for an ignorant ^H191 fool ^H191,

He does not open ^H6605 his mouth ^H6310 in the gate ^H8179.

8 One who deliberately thinks ^H2803 to do ^H7489 evil ^H7489,

Men will call ^H7121 a [fn]schemer ^H1167 H4209.

9 The scheming ^H2154 of folly ^H200 is sin ^H2403,

And the scoffer ^H3887 is an abomination ^H8441 to men ^H120.

10 If you are slack ^H7503 in the day ^H3117 of trouble ^H6869,

Your strength ^H3581 is in trouble ^H6862.

11 Deliver ^H5337 those who are being taken ^H3947 away to death ^H4194,

And those who are stumbling ^H4131 to the slaughter ^H2027, Oh ^H518 hold ^H2820 them back ^H2820.

12 If ^H3588 you say ^H559, “Behold ^H2005, we did not know ^H3045 this ^H2088,”

Does not He who weighs ^H8505 the hearts ^H3820 understand ^H995?

And does not He who guards ^H5341 your soul ^H5315 know ^H3045?

And will not He [fn]render ^H7725 to man ^H120 according to his work ^H6467?

13 Eat ^H398 honey ^H1706, my son ^H1121, for it is good ^H2896,

Indeed, the honey ^H5317 from ^H5317 the ^H5317 comb ^H5317 is sweet ^H4966 to your taste ^H2441;

14 Know ^H3045 that wisdom ^H2451 is thus ^H3651 for your soul ^H5315;

19 Do not fret ^H2734 because of evildoers ^H7489

Do not be ^H7065 jealous ^H7065 of the wicked ^H7563;

20 For there will be no ^H3808 [fn]future ^H319 for the evil ^H7451 one ^H7451;

The lamp ^H5216 of the wicked ^H7563 will go ^H1846 out ^H1846.

21 My son ^H1121, [fn]fear ^H3372 Yahweh ^H3068 and the king ^H4428;

Do not associate ^H6148 with those who change ^H8132,

22 For suddenly ^H6597 their disaster ^H343 will rise ^H6965,

And who ^H4310 knows ^H3045 the upheaval ^H6365 that comes from both ^H8147 of them?

23 These ^H428 also ^H1571 are sayings of the wise ^H2450.

To [fn]show ^H5234 partiality ^H5234 H6440 in judgment ^H4941 is not good ^H2896.

24 He who says ^H559 to the wicked ^H7563, “You are righteous ^H6662,”

Peoples ^H5971 will curse ^H6895 him, nations ^H3816 will be indignant ^H2194 with him;

25 But to those who reprove ^H3198 the wicked, it will be ^H5276 pleasant ^H5276,

And a good ^H2896 blessing ^H1293 will come ^H935 upon them.

28 Do not be a witness ^H5707 against your neighbor ^H7453 without ^H2600 cause ^H2600,

Nor deceive ^H6601 with your lips ^H8193.

29 Do ^H6213 not say ^H559, “As ^H3651 he did ^H6213 to me so I shall do ^H6213 to him;

I will [fn]render ^H7725 to the man ^H376 according to his work ^H6467.”

30 I passed ^H5674 by the field ^H7704 of the sluggard ^H6102

And by the vineyard ^H3754 of the man ^H120 lacking ^H2638 a heart ^H3820 of wisdom,

31 And behold ^H2009, it was completely ^H3605 [fn]overgrown ^H5927 with thistles ^H7057;

[fn]Nettles ^H2738 have covered ^H3680 its surface ^H6440,

And its stone ^H68 wall ^H1447 has been torn ^H2040 down ^H2040.

32 And I beheld ^H2372, I set ^H7896 my heart ^H3820 upon it;

I saw ^H7200, I received ^H3947 discipline ^H4148.

33 “A little ^H4592 sleep ^H8142, a little ^H4592 slumber ^H8572,

A little ^H4592 folding ^H2264 of the hands ^H3027 to rest ^H7901,”

34 Then your poverty ^H7389 will come ^H935 as [fn]a robber ^H1980

And your want ^H4270 like [fn]an armed ^H4043 man ^H376.
