The Reign of Yahweh’s Anointed
1 Why H4100 do the [fn]nations H1471 rage H7283
And the peoples H3816 meditate on H1897 a vain H7385 thing H7385?
2 The kings H4428 of the earth H776 take H3320 their stand H3320
And the rulers H7336 take H3245 counsel H3245 together H3162
Against H5921 Yahweh H3068 and against H5921 His [fn]Anointed H4899, saying,
3 “Let us tear H5423 their fetters H4147 apart H5423
And cast H7993 away H7993 their cords H5688 from us!”
4 He who [fn]sits H3427 in the heavens H8064 laughs H7832,
The Lord H136 mocks H3932 them.
5 Then H227 He speaks H1696 to them in His anger H639
And terrifies H926 them in His fury H2740, saying,
6 “But as for Me, I have [fn]installed H5258 My King H4428
Upon Zion H6726, My holy H6944 mountain H2022.”
7 “I will surely H3588 tell H5608 of the [fn]decree H2706 of Yahweh H3068:
He said H559 to Me, ‘You are My Son H1121,
Today H3117 I have begotten H3205 You.
8 ‘Ask H7592 of Me, and I will surely give H5414 the [fn]nations H1471 as Your inheritance H5159,
And the ends H657 of the earth H776 as Your possession H272.
9 ‘You shall [fn]break H7489 them with a [fn]rod H7626 of iron H1270,
You shall shatter H5310 them like a potter’s H3335 vessel H3627.’”
10 So now H6258, O kings H4428, show H7919 insight H7919;
Take H3256 warning H3256, O [fn]judges H8199 of the earth H776.
11 Serve H5647 Yahweh H3068 with fear H3374
And rejoice H1523 with trembling H7461.
12 [fn]Kiss H5401 the Son H1248, lest H6435 He become H599 angry H599, and you perish H6 in the way H1870,
For His [fn]wrath H639 may [fn]soon H4592 be kindled H1197.
