PSALM 59

Deliver Me from My Enemies

For the choir director. [fn]Al-tashheth. Of David. A [fn]Mikhtam. [fn]When Saul sent men and they watched the house in order to put him to death.

1 Deliver^H5337 me from my enemies^H340, O my God^H430;

[fn]Set^H7682 me securely on^H7682 high^H7682 away from those who rise^H6965 up^H6965 against me.

2 Deliver^H5337 me from workers^H6466 of iniquity^H205

And save^H3467 me from men^H376 of bloodshed^H1818.

3 For behold^H2009, they have lain^H693 in^H693 wait^H693 for my soul^H5315;

[fn]Fierce^H5794 men^H5794 [fn]launch^H1481 an attack^H1481 against^H5921 me,

Not for my transgression^H6588 nor^H3808 for my sin^H2403, O Yahweh^H3068,

4 [fn]For no^H1097 guilt^H5771 of mine, they run^H7323 and set^H3559 themselves against me.

Arouse^H5782 Yourself to meet^H7122 me, and see^H7200!

5 You, O Yahweh^H3068 God^H430 of hosts^H6635, the God^H430 of Israel^H3478,

Awake^H6974 to [fn]punish^H6485 all^H3605 the nations^H1471;

Do not be^H2603 gracious^H2603 to any^H3605 who are treacherous^H898 in [fn]iniquity^H205. [fn]Selah^H5542.

6 They return^H7725 at evening^H6153, they howl^H1993 like a dog^H3611,

7 Behold^H2009, they pour^H5042 forth^H5042 speech with their mouth^H6310;

Swords^H2719 are in their lips^H8193,

For, they say, “Who^H4310 hears^H8085?”

8 But You, O Yahweh^H3068, laugh^H7832 at them;

You mock^H3932 all^H3605 the nations^H1471.

9 Because of [fn]his strength^H5797 I will watch^H8104 for You,

For God^H430 is my stronghold^H4869.

10 [fn]My God^H430 in His lovingkindness^H2617 will approach^H6923 me;

God^H430 will let me look^H7200 triumphantly upon [fn]my foes^H8324.

11 Do not slay^H2026 them, or^H6435 my people^H5971 will forget^H7911;

Make^H5128 them wander^H5128 about^H5128 by Your power^H2428, and bring^H3381 them down^H3381,

O Lord^H136, our shield^H4043.
