Romans 10 – Legacy Standard Bible (LSB)

1 Brothers ^G80, my heart’s ^G2588 desire ^G2107 and my prayer ^G1162 to God ^G2316 for them is for their salvation ^G4991. 2 For I testify ^G3140 about them that they have ^G2192 a zeal ^G2205 for God ^G2316, but not according ^G2596 to ^G2596 knowledge ^G1922. 3 For not knowing ^G50 about the righteousness ^G1343 of God ^G2316 and seeking ^G2212 to establish ^G2476 their own ^G2398, they did not subject ^G5293 themselves to the righteousness ^G1343 of God ^G2316. 4 For Christ ^G5547 is the [fn]end ^G5056 of the law ^G3551 for righteousness ^G1343 to everyone ^G3956 who believes ^G4100.

Faith Comes by Hearing

5 For Moses ^G3475 writes ^G1125 about the righteousness ^G1343 which is of ^G1537 law ^G3551: “THE MAN ^G444 WHO DOES ^G4160 THESE THINGS SHALL LIVE ^G2198 BY THEM.”

6 But the righteousness ^G1343 of ^G1537 faith ^G4102 speaks ^G3004 in this way ^G3779: “DO NOT SAY ^G3004 IN YOUR HEART ^G2588, ‘WHO ^G5101 WILL GO UP ^G305 INTO HEAVEN ^G3772?’ (that is, to bring ^G2609 Christ ^G5547 down ^G2609), 7 or ^G2228 ‘WHO ^G5101 WILL GO DOWN ^G2597 INTO THE ABYSS ^G12?’ (that is, to bring ^G321 Christ ^G5547 up ^G321 from the dead ^G3498).” 8 But what ^G5101 does it say ^G3004? “THE WORD ^G4487 IS NEAR ^G1451 YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH ^G4750 AND IN YOUR HEART ^G2588”—that is, the word ^G4487 of faith ^G4102 which ^G3739 we are preaching ^G2784, 9 [fn]that if ^G1437 you confess ^G3670 with your mouth ^G4750 Jesus ^G2424 as Lord ^G2962, and believe ^G4100 in your heart ^G2588 that God ^G2316 raised ^G1453 Him from the dead ^G3498, you will be saved ^G4982; 10 for with the heart ^G2588 a person believes ^G4100, [fn]leading ^G1519 to righteousness ^G1343, and with the mouth ^G4750 he confesses ^G3670, [fn]leading ^G1519 to salvation ^G4991. 11 For the Scripture ^G1124 says ^G3004, “WHOEVER ^G3956 BELIEVES ^G4100 UPON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT ^G2617 TO ^G2617 SHAME ^G2617.” 12 For there is no ^G3756 distinction ^G1293 between Jew ^G2453 and Greek ^G1672, for the same ^G846 Lord is Lord ^G2962 of all ^G3956, abounding ^G4147 in ^G4147 riches ^G4147 for all ^G3956 who call ^G1941 on ^G1941 Him, 13 for “WHOEVER ^G3956 CALLS ^G1941 ON ^G1941 THE NAME ^G3686 OF THE LORD ^G2962 WILL BE SAVED ^G4982.”

14 How ^G4459 then ^G3767 will they call ^G1941 on ^G1941 Him in whom ^G3739 they have not believed ^G4100? How ^G4459 will they believe ^G4100 in Him whom ^G3739 they have not heard ^G191? And how ^G4459 will they hear ^G191 without ^G5565 a preacher ^G2784? 15 And how ^G4459 will they preach ^G2784 unless ^G1437 G3361 they are sent ^G649? Just ^G2509 as ^G2509 it is written ^G1125, “HOW ^G5613 BEAUTIFUL ^G5611 ARE THE FEET ^G4228 OF THOSE ^G3588 WHO PROCLAIM ^G2097 GOOD ^G2097 NEWS ^G2097 OF GOOD ^G18 THINGS ^G18!”

16 However ^G235, they did not all ^G3956 heed ^G5219 the [fn]good ^G2098 news ^G2098, for Isaiah ^G2268 says ^G3004, “LORD ^G2962, WHO ^G5101 HAS BELIEVED ^G4100 OUR REPORT ^G189?” 17 So ^G686 faith ^G4102 comes from hearing ^G189, and hearing ^G189 by the word ^G4487 [fn]of Christ ^G5547.

18 But I say ^G3004, have they never ^G3361 G3756 heard ^G191? On the contrary ^G3304, they have;

“THEIR VOICE ^G5353 HAS GONE ^G1831 OUT INTO ALL ^G3956 THE EARTH ^G1093,

AND THEIR WORDS ^G4487 TO THE ENDS ^G4009 OF THE [fn]WORLD ^G3625.”

19 But I say ^G3004, did Israel ^G2474 not know ^G1097? First ^G4413 Moses ^G3475 says ^G3004,

“I WILL MAKE ^G3863 YOU JEALOUS ^G3863 BY THAT WHICH IS NOT A NATION ^G1484,

BY A NATION ^G1484 WITHOUT ^G801 UNDERSTANDING ^G801 WILL I ANGER ^G3949 YOU.”

20 And Isaiah ^G2268 is very ^G662 bold ^G662 and says ^G3004,

“I WAS FOUND ^G2147 BY THOSE ^G3588 WHO DID NOT SEEK ^G2212 ME,

I BECAME ^G1096 MANIFEST ^G1717 TO THOSE ^G3588 WHO DID NOT ASK ^G1905 FOR ME.”

21 But as for Israel ^G2474 He says ^G3004, “ALL ^G3650 DAY ^G2250 LONG I HAVE STRETCHED ^G1600 OUT MY HANDS ^G5495 TO A DISOBEDIENT ^G544 AND OBSTINATE ^G483 PEOPLE ^G2992.”
