The Rewards of Wisdom

1 My son ^H1121, do not forget ^H7911 my [fn]teaching ^H8451,

But have your heart ^H3820 comply ^H5341 with ^H5341 my commandments ^H4687;

2 For length ^H753 of days ^H3117 and years ^H8141 of life ^H2416

And peace ^H7965 they will add ^H3254 to you.

3 Do not let kindness ^H2617 and truth ^H571 leave ^H5800 you;

Bind ^H7194 them around ^H5921 your neck ^H1621,

Write ^H3789 them on the tablet ^H3871 of your heart ^H3820.

4 So you will find ^H4672 favor ^H2580 and a good ^H2896 [fn]reputation ^H7922

In the sight ^H5869 of God ^H430 and man ^H120.

5 Trust ^H982 in the LORD ^H3068 with all ^H3605 your heart ^H3820

And do not lean ^H8172 on your own understanding ^H998.

6 In all ^H3605 your ways ^H1870 acknowledge ^H3045 Him,

And He will make ^H3474 your paths ^H734 straight ^H3474.

7 Do not be wise ^H2450 in your own eyes ^H5869;

Fear ^H3372 the LORD ^H3068 and turn ^H5493 away ^H5493 from evil ^H7451.

8 It will be healing ^H7500 to your [fn]body ^H8270

And refreshment ^H8250 to your bones ^H6106.

9 Honor ^H3513 the LORD ^H3068 from your wealth ^H1952,

And from the first ^H7225 of all ^H3605 your produce ^H8393;

10 Then your barns ^H618 will be filled ^H4390 with plenty ^H7647,

And your vats ^H3342 will overflow ^H6555 with new ^H8492 wine ^H8492.

11 My son ^H1121, do not reject ^H3988 the [fn]discipline ^H4148 of the LORD ^H3068

Or loathe ^H6973 His rebuke ^H8433,

12 For whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 loves ^H157 He disciplines ^H3198,

Just as a father ^H1 disciplines the son ^H1121 in whom he delights ^H7521.

13 Blessed ^H835 is a person ^H120 who finds ^H4672 wisdom ^H2451,

And one ^H120 who obtains ^H6329 understanding ^H8394.

14 For [fn]her profit ^H5504 is better ^H2896 than ^H4480 the profit ^H5504 of silver ^H3701,

And her produce ^H8393 better than ^H4480 gold ^H2742.

15 She is more ^H4480 precious ^H3368 than ^H4480 [fn]jewels ^H6443,

And nothing ^H3605 H3808 you desire ^H2656 compares ^H7737 with her.

16 [fn]Long ^H753 life ^H3117 is in her right ^H3225 hand ^H3225;

In her left ^H8040 hand ^H8040 are riches ^H6239 and honor ^H3519.

17 Her ways ^H1870 are pleasant ^H5278 ways ^H1870,

And all ^H3605 her paths ^H5410 are peace ^H7965.

18 She is a tree ^H6086 of life ^H2416 to those who take ^H2388 hold ^H2388 of her,

And happy ^H833 are those who hold ^H8551 on to her.

19 The LORD ^H3068 founded ^H3245 the earth ^H776 by wisdom ^H2451,

He established ^H3559 the heavens ^H8064 by understanding ^H8394.

20 By His knowledge ^H1847 the ocean ^H8415 depths ^H8415 were burst ^H1234 open ^H1234,

And the clouds ^H7834 drip ^H7491 with dew ^H2919.

21 My son ^H1121, see that they do not escape ^H3868 from your sight ^H5869;

Comply ^H5341 with ^H5341 sound ^H8454 wisdom ^H8454 and discretion ^H4209,

22 And they will be life ^H2416 to your soul ^H5315

And adornment ^H2580 to your neck ^H1621.

23 Then ^H227 you will walk ^H1980 in your way ^H1870 securely ^H983,

And your foot ^H7272 will not stumble ^H5062.

24 When ^H518 you lie ^H7901 down ^H7901, you will not be ^H6342 afraid ^H6342;

When you lie ^H7901 down ^H7901, your sleep ^H8142 will be sweet ^H6149.

25 Do not be ^H3372 afraid ^H3372 of sudden ^H6597 danger ^H6343,

Nor ^H408 of trouble ^H7722 from the wicked ^H7563 when ^H3588 it comes ^H935;

26 For the LORD ^H3068 will be [fn]your confidence ^H3689,

And will keep ^H8104 your foot ^H7272 from being caught ^H3921.

27 Do not withhold ^H4513 good ^H2896 from [fn]those ^H1167 to ^H1167 whom ^H1167 it is ^H1167 due ^H1167,

When it is in your power ^H410 to do ^H6213 it.

28 Do not say ^H559 to your neighbor ^H7453, “Go ^H1980, and come ^H7725 back ^H7725,

And tomorrow ^H4279 I will give ^H5414 it to you,”

When you have ^H3426 it with you.

29 Do not devise ^H2790 harm ^H7451 against ^H5921 your neighbor ^H7453,

While he lives ^H3427 securely ^H983 beside ^H854 you.

30 Do not contend ^H7378 with a person ^H120 for ^H2600 no ^H2600 reason ^H2600,

If ^H518 he has done ^H1580 you no ^H3808 harm ^H7451.

31 Do not envy ^H7065 a violent ^H2555 person ^H376,

And do not choose ^H977 any ^H3605 of his ways ^H1870.

32 For the devious ^H3868 are an abomination ^H8441 to the LORD ^H3068;

But [fn]He is intimate ^H5475 with the upright ^H3477.

33 The curse ^H3994 of the LORD ^H3068 is on the house ^H1004 of the wicked ^H7563,

But He blesses ^H1288 the home ^H5116 of the righteous ^H6662.

34 Though ^H518 He scoffs ^H3887 at the scoffers ^H3887,

Yet He gives ^H5414 grace ^H2580 to the needy ^H6035.

35 The wise ^H2450 will inherit ^H5157 honor ^H3519,

But fools ^H3684 [fn]increase ^H7311 dishonor ^H7036.
