Ahaziah Succeeds Jehoram in Judah

1 Then the inhabitants ^H3427 of Jerusalem ^H3389 made ^H4427 [fn]Ahaziah ^H274, his youngest ^H6996 son ^H1121, king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478, for the band ^H1416 of ^H1416 men ^H1416 who came ^H935 with the Arabs ^H6163 to the camp ^H4264 had killed ^H2026 all ^H3605 the older ^H7223 sons. So Ahaziah ^H274 the son ^H1121 of Jehoram ^H3088 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 began to reign ^H4427.

2 Ahaziah ^H274 was [fn]twenty-two ^H705 H8147 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 for one ^H259 year ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389. And his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Athaliah ^H6271, the [fn]granddaughter ^H1323 of Omri ^H6018. 3 He also ^H1571 walked ^H1980 in the ways ^H1870 of the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256, for his mother ^H517 was his counselor ^H3289 to act ^H7561 wickedly ^H7561. 4 So he did ^H6213 evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of the LORD ^H3068 like the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256, for they were his counselors ^H3289 after ^H310 the death ^H4194 of his father ^H1, to his own destruction ^H4889.

5 He also ^H1571 walked ^H1980 by their counsel ^H6098, and went ^H1980 with Jehoram ^H3088 the son ^H1121 of Ahab ^H256 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 to wage ^H4421 war ^H4421 against ^H5921 Hazael ^H2371 king ^H4428 of Aram ^H758 at Ramoth-gilead ^H7433. But the Arameans ^H761 [fn]wounded ^H5221 [fn]Joram ^H3141. 6 So he returned ^H7725 to be healed ^H7495 in Jezreel ^H3157 of the wounds ^H4347 [fn]which ^H834 they had inflicted ^H5221 on him at Ramah ^H7414, when he fought ^H3898 against ^H854 Hazael ^H2371 king ^H4428 of Aram ^H758. And [fn]Ahaziah ^H274, the son ^H1121 of Jehoram ^H3088 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063, went ^H3381 down ^H3381 to see ^H7200 Jehoram ^H3088 the son ^H1121 of Ahab ^H256 in Jezreel ^H3157, because ^H3588 he was ^H2470 sick ^H2470.

7 Now the destruction ^H8395 of Ahaziah ^H274 was from God ^H430, in that [fn]he went ^H935 to Joram ^H3141. For when he arrived ^H935, he went ^H3318 out ^H3318 with Jehoram ^H3088 against ^H413 Jehu ^H3058 the son ^H1121 of Nimshi ^H5250, whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 had anointed ^H4886 to eliminate ^H3772 the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256.

Jehu Murders Princes of Judah

8 And it came ^H1961 about ^H1961, when Jehu ^H3058 was executing ^H8199 judgment ^H8199 on the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256, that he found ^H4672 the princes ^H8269 of Judah ^H3063 and the sons ^H1121 of Ahaziah’s ^H274 brothers ^H251 attending ^H8334 to Ahaziah ^H274, and killed ^H2026 them. 9 He also searched ^H1245 for Ahaziah ^H274, and they caught ^H3920 him while he was hiding ^H2244 in Samaria ^H8111; they brought ^H935 him to Jehu ^H3058, put ^H4191 him to ^H4191 death ^H4191, and buried ^H6912 him. 10 Now when Athaliah ^H6271 the mother ^H517 of Ahaziah ^H274 saw ^H7200 that her son ^H1121 was dead ^H4191, she rose ^H6965 and eliminated ^H6 all ^H3605 the royal ^H4467 [fn]children ^H2233 of the house ^H1004 of Judah ^H3063. 11 But Jehoshabeath ^H3090 the king’s ^H4428 daughter ^H1323 took ^H3947 Joash ^H3060 the son ^H1121 of Ahaziah ^H274, and stole ^H1589 him from among ^H8432 the king’s ^H4428 sons ^H1121 who were being put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191, and placed ^H5414 him and his nurse ^H3243 in the bedroom ^H2315 H4296. So Jehoshabeath ^H3090, the daughter ^H1323 of King ^H4428 Jehoram ^H3088, the wife ^H802 of Jehoiada ^H3077 the priest ^H3548 (for she was the sister ^H269 of Ahaziah ^H274), hid ^H5641 him from Athaliah ^H6271 so that she would not put ^H4191 him to ^H4191 death ^H4191. 12 He kept himself hidden ^H2244 with them in the house ^H1004 of God ^H430 for six ^H8337 years ^H8141 while Athaliah ^H6271 reigned ^H4427 over ^H5921 the land ^H776.
