The Temple Construction in Jerusalem

1 Then Solomon ^H8010 began ^H2490 to build ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068 in Jerusalem ^H3389 on Mount ^H2022 Moriah ^H4179, where ^H834 the LORD had appeared ^H7200 to his father ^H1 David ^H1732, at the place ^H4725 that David ^H1732 had prepared ^H3559 on the threshing ^H1637 floor ^H1637 of [fn]Ornan ^H771 the Jebusite ^H2983.

2 He began ^H2490 to build ^H1129 on the second ^H8145 day in the second ^H8145 month ^H2320 [fn]of the fourth ^H702 year ^H8141 of his reign ^H4438.

Dimensions and Materials of the Temple

3 Now these ^H428 are the [fn]foundations ^H3245 which Solomon ^H8010 laid ^H3245 for building ^H1129 the house ^H1004 of God ^H430. The length ^H753 in cubits ^H520, according to the old ^H7223 standard ^H4060, was [fn]sixty ^H8346 cubits ^H520, and the width ^H7341, twenty ^H6242 cubits ^H520. 4 The porch ^H197 which ^H834 was in front ^H6440 of the house was as long ^H753 as the width ^H7341 of the house ^H1004, [fn]twenty ^H6242 cubits ^H520, and the height ^H1363 [fn]twenty ^H6242; and inside ^H4480 H6441 he overlaid ^H6823 it with pure ^H2889 gold ^H2091. 5 He overlaid ^H2645 the [fn]main ^H1419 room ^H1004 with juniper ^H1265 wood ^H6086 and overlaid ^H2645 it with fine ^H2896 gold ^H2091; and he [fn]ornamented ^H5927 H5921 it with palm ^H8561 trees ^H8561 and chains ^H8333. 6 Further, he overlaid ^H6823 the house ^H1004 [fn]with precious ^H3368 stones ^H68; and the gold ^H2091 was gold ^H2091 from Parvaim ^H6516. 7 He also overlaid ^H2645 the house ^H1004 with gold ^H2091—the beams ^H6982, the thresholds ^H5592, and its walls ^H7023 and doors ^H1817; and he carved ^H6605 cherubim ^H3742 on the walls ^H7023.

8 Then he made ^H6213 the [fn]room ^H1004 of the Most ^H6944 Holy ^H6944 Place ^H6944: its length ^H753 across ^H5921 H6440 the width ^H7341 of the house ^H1004 was [fn]twenty ^H6242 cubits ^H520, and its width ^H7341 was twenty ^H6242 cubits ^H520; and he overlaid ^H2645 it with fine ^H2896 gold ^H2091, amounting to [fn]six ^H8337 hundred ^H3967 talents ^H3603. 9 The weight ^H4948 of the nails ^H4548 was fifty ^H2572 shekels ^H8255 of gold ^H2091. He also overlaid ^H2645 the upper ^H5944 rooms ^H5944 with gold ^H2091.

10 Then he made ^H6213 two ^H8147 [fn]sculptured ^H4639 H6816 cherubim ^H3742 in the room ^H1004 of the Most ^H6944 Holy ^H6944 Place ^H6944 and overlaid ^H6823 them with gold ^H2091. 11 The wingspan ^H3671 H753 of the [fn]cherubim ^H3742 was twenty ^H6242 [fn]cubits ^H520; the wing ^H3671 of one ^H259, of five ^H2568 cubits ^H520, touched ^H5060 the wall ^H7023 of the house ^H1004, and its other ^H312 wing ^H3671, of five ^H2568 cubits ^H520, touched ^H5060 the wing ^H3671 of the other ^H312 cherub ^H3742. 12 The wing ^H3671 of the other ^H312 cherub ^H3742, of five ^H2568 cubits ^H520, touched ^H5060 the wall ^H7023 of the house ^H1004; and its other ^H312 wing ^H3671, of five ^H2568 cubits ^H520, was attached ^H1695 to the wing ^H3671 of the [fn]first ^H312 cherub ^H3742. 13 The wings ^H3671 of these ^H428 cherubim ^H3742 extended ^H6566 twenty ^H6242 cubits ^H520, and they stood ^H5975 on their feet ^H7272 [fn]facing ^H6440 the main room ^H1004. 14 He made ^H6213 the veil ^H6532 of violet ^H8504, purple ^H713, crimson ^H3758, and fine ^H948 linen ^H948, and he worked ^H5927 cherubim ^H3742 into it.

15 He also made ^H6213 two ^H8147 pillars ^H5982 for the front ^H6440 of the house ^H1004, thirty-five ^H7970 H2568 cubits ^H520 [fn]high ^H753, and the capital ^H6858 on the top ^H7218 of each was five ^H2568 cubits ^H520. 16 He made ^H6213 chains ^H8333 in the inner ^H1687 sanctuary ^H1687 and placed ^H5414 them on the tops ^H7218 of the pillars ^H5982; and he made ^H6213 a hundred ^H3967 pomegranates ^H7416 and placed ^H5414 them on the chains ^H8333. 17 He erected ^H6965 the pillars ^H5982 in front ^H6440 of the temple ^H1964, one ^H259 on the right ^H3225 and the other ^H259 on the left ^H8040, and named ^H7121 H8034 the one on the right ^H3233 Jachin ^H3199 and the one on the left ^H8042 Boaz ^H1162.
