Manasseh Succeeds Hezekiah

1 Manasseh ^H4519 was twelve ^H8147 H6240 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 for fifty-five ^H2572 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389; and his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Hephzibah ^H2657.

2 He did ^H6213 evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of the LORD ^H3068, in accordance with the abominations ^H8441 of the nations ^H1471 whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 [fn]dispossessed ^H3423 before ^H4480 H6440 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478. 3 For he rebuilt ^H7725 H1129 the high ^H1116 places ^H1116 which ^H834 his father ^H1 Hezekiah ^H2396 had destroyed ^H6; and he erected ^H6965 altars ^H4196 for Baal ^H1168 and made ^H6213 an [fn]Asherah ^H842, just ^H834 as ^H834 Ahab ^H256 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478 had done ^H6213, and he worshiped ^H2331 all ^H3605 the heavenly ^H8064 [fn]lights ^H6635 and served ^H5647 them. 4 And he built ^H1129 altars ^H4196 in the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068, of which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 had said ^H559, “In Jerusalem ^H3389 I will put ^H7760 My name ^H8034.” 5 He built ^H1129 altars ^H4196 for all ^H3605 the heavenly ^H8064 [fn]lights ^H6635 in the two ^H8147 courtyards ^H2691 of the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068. 6 And he made his son ^H1121 pass ^H5674 through the fire ^H784, interpreted ^H6049 signs ^H6049, practiced ^H5172 divination ^H5172, and used ^H6213 mediums ^H178 and spiritists ^H3049. The King’s Idolatries Rebuked

10 Now the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 through ^H3027 His servants ^H5650 the prophets ^H5030, saying ^H559,

11 “Since ^H3282 H834 Manasseh ^H4519 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 has committed ^H6213 these ^H428 abominations ^H8441, having done ^H7489 more ^H4480 evil ^H7489 than ^H4480 all ^H3605 that the Amorites ^H567 did ^H6213 who ^H834 were before ^H6440 him, and has also ^H1571 misled ^H2398 Judah ^H3063 into ^H2398 sin ^H2398 with his idols ^H1544, 12 therefore ^H3651 this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 says ^H559: ‘Behold ^H2009, I am bringing ^H935 such a disaster ^H7451 on Jerusalem ^H3389 and Judah ^H3063 that whoever ^H3605 hears ^H8085 about it, both ^H8147 of his ears ^H241 will ring ^H6750. 13 I will stretch ^H5186 over ^H5921 Jerusalem ^H3389 the line ^H6957 of Samaria ^H8111 and the plummet ^H4949 of the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256, and I will wipe ^H4229 Jerusalem ^H3389 clean ^H4229 just ^H834 as ^H834 one wipes ^H4229 a bowl ^H6747, wiping ^H4229 it and turning ^H2015 it upside ^H5921 H6440 down ^H6440. 14 And I will abandon ^H5203 the remnant ^H7611 of My inheritance ^H5159 and hand ^H5414 H3027 them over ^H5414 to their enemies ^H340, and they will become ^H1961 as plunder ^H957 and spoils ^H4933 to all ^H3605 their enemies ^H340, 15 because ^H3282 H834 they have done ^H6213 evil ^H7451 in My sight ^H5869, and have been ^H1961 provoking ^H3707 Me to ^H3707 anger ^H3707 since ^H4480 the day ^H3117 their fathers ^H1 came ^H3318 from Egypt ^H4714, even to this ^H2088 day ^H3117.’”

16 Furthermore ^H1571, Manasseh ^H4519 shed ^H8210 very ^H3966 much ^H7235 innocent ^H5355 blood ^H1818 until ^H5704 H834 he had filled ^H4390 Jerusalem ^H3389 [fn]from one ^H6310 end ^H6310 to another ^H6310, besides ^H905 H4480 his sin ^H2403 into which ^H834 he misled ^H2398 Judah ^H3063, in doing ^H6213 evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of the LORD ^H3068. 17 Now the rest ^H3499 of the acts ^H1697 of Manasseh ^H4519 and all ^H3605 that he did ^H6213, and his sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he [fn]committed ^H2398, are they not written ^H3789 in the Book ^H5612 of the Chronicles ^H1697 H3117 of the Kings ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063? 18 And Manasseh ^H4519 [fn]lay ^H7901 down ^H7901 with his fathers ^H1 and was buried ^H6912 in the garden ^H1588 of his own house ^H1004, in the garden ^H1588 of Uzza ^H5798, and his son ^H1121 Amon ^H526 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478.

Amon Succeeds Manasseh

19 Amon ^H526 was twenty-two ^H6242 H8147 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 for two ^H8147 years ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389; and his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Meshullemeth ^H4922 the daughter ^H1323 of Haruz ^H2743 of Jotbah ^H3192.

20 He did ^H6213 evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of the LORD ^H3068, just ^H834 as ^H834 his father ^H1 Manasseh ^H4519 had done ^H6213. 21 For he walked ^H1980 [fn]entirely ^H3605 in the way ^H1870 that his father ^H1 had walked ^H1980, and served ^H5647 the idols ^H1544 that his father ^H1 had served ^H5647, and worshiped ^H2331 them. 22 So he abandoned ^H5800 the LORD ^H3068, the God ^H430 of his fathers ^H1, and did not walk ^H1980 in the way ^H1870 of the LORD ^H3068. 23 And the servants ^H5650 of Amon ^H526 conspired ^H7194 against ^H5921 him and killed ^H4191 the king ^H4428 in his own house ^H1004. 24 Then the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 [fn]killed ^H5221 all ^H3605 those who had conspired ^H7194 against ^H5921 King ^H4428 Amon ^H526, and the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 made ^H4427 his son ^H1121 Josiah ^H2977 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478. 25 Now the rest ^H3499 of the acts ^H1697 of Amon ^H526 which ^H834 he did ^H6213, are they not written ^H3789 in the Book ^H5612 of the Chronicles ^H1697 H3117 of the Kings ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063? 26 He was buried ^H6912 in his grave ^H6900 in the garden ^H1588 of Uzza ^H5798, and his son ^H1121 Josiah ^H2977 became ^H4427 king ^H4427 in ^H8478 his place ^H8478.
