Jehoram Restores the Shunammite’s Land

1 Now Elisha ^H477 spoke ^H1696 to the woman ^H802 whose ^H834 son ^H1121 he had restored ^H2421 to ^H2421 life ^H2421, saying ^H559, “Arise ^H6965 and go ^H1980 [fn]with your household ^H1004, and live ^H1481 wherever ^H834 you can live ^H1481; for the LORD ^H3068 has called ^H7121 for a famine ^H7458, and it will indeed ^H1571 come ^H935 on the land ^H776 for seven ^H7651 years ^H8141.”

2 So the woman ^H802 arose ^H6965 and acted ^H6213 in accordance with the word ^H1697 of the man ^H376 of God ^H430: she went ^H1980 with her household ^H1004 and resided ^H1481 in the land ^H776 of the Philistines ^H6430 for seven ^H7651 years ^H8141. 3 Then at the end ^H7097 of seven ^H7651 years ^H8141, the woman ^H802 returned ^H7725 from the land ^H776 of the Philistines ^H6430; and she went ^H3318 to [fn]appeal ^H6817 to the king ^H4428 for her house ^H1004 and for her field ^H7704. 4 Now the king ^H4428 was speaking ^H1696 with Gehazi ^H1522, the servant ^H5288 of the man ^H376 of God ^H430, saying ^H559, “Please ^H4994 report ^H5608 to me all ^H3605 the great ^H1419 things ^H1419 that Elisha ^H477 has done ^H6213.” 5 And as he was reporting ^H5608 to the king ^H4428 how ^H834 he had restored ^H2421 to ^H2421 life ^H2421 the one who was dead ^H4191, behold ^H2009, the woman ^H802 whose ^H834 son ^H1121 he had restored ^H2421 to ^H2421 life ^H2421 [fn]appealed ^H6817 to the king ^H4428 for her house ^H1004 and for her field ^H7704. Elisha Predicts Evil from Hazael

8 And the king ^H4428 said ^H559 to Hazael ^H2371, “Take ^H3947 a gift ^H4503 in your hand ^H3027 and go ^H1980 to meet ^H7122 the man ^H376 of God ^H430, and inquire ^H1875 of the LORD ^H3068 by him, saying ^H559, ‘Will I recover ^H2421 from this ^H2088 sickness ^H2483?’” 9 So Hazael ^H2371 went ^H1980 to meet ^H7122 him and took ^H3947 a gift ^H4503 in his hand ^H3027, even every ^H3605 kind of good ^H2898 thing ^H2898 of Damascus ^H1834, forty ^H705 camels’ ^H1581 loads ^H4853; and he came ^H935 and stood ^H5975 before ^H6440 him and said ^H559, “Your son ^H1121 Ben-hadad ^H1130 king ^H4428 of Aram ^H758 has sent ^H7971 me to you, saying ^H559, ‘Will I recover ^H2421 from this ^H2088 sickness ^H2483?’” 10 Then Elisha ^H477 said ^H559 to him, “Go ^H1980, say ^H559 to him, ‘You will certainly ^H2421 recover ^H2421’; but the LORD ^H3068 has shown ^H7200 me that he will certainly ^H4191 die ^H4191.” 11 And he [fn]stared ^H5975 H6440 steadily ^H7760 at him until ^H5704 Hazael was ^H954 embarrassed ^H954, and then the man ^H376 of God ^H430 wept ^H1058. 12 And Hazael ^H2371 said ^H559, “Why ^H4069 is my lord ^H113 weeping ^H1058?” And he [fn]answered ^H559, “Because ^H3588 I know ^H3045 the evil ^H7451 that you will do ^H6213 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478: you will set ^H7971 their fortified ^H4013 cities ^H4013 on fire ^H784, you will kill ^H2026 their young ^H970 men ^H970 with the sword ^H2719, their little ^H5768 ones ^H5768 you will smash ^H7376 to ^H7376 pieces ^H7376, and you will rip ^H1234 up ^H1234 their pregnant ^H2030 women ^H2030.” 13 Then Hazael ^H2371 said ^H559, “But what ^H4100 is your servant ^H5650—a lowly dog ^H3611—that he could do ^H6213 this ^H2088 great ^H1419 thing ^H1697?” And Elisha ^H477 [fn]answered ^H559, “The LORD ^H3068 has shown ^H7200 me that you will be king ^H4428 over ^H5921 Aram ^H758.” 14 So he left ^H1980 H4480 Elisha ^H477 and came ^H935 to his master ^H113, who said ^H559 to him, “What ^H4100 did Elisha ^H477 say ^H559 to you?” And he [fn]answered ^H559, “He told ^H559 me that you would certainly ^H2421 recover ^H2421.” 15 But on the following ^H4283 day ^H4283, he took ^H3947 the [fn]cover ^H4345 and dipped ^H2881 it in water ^H4325, and spread ^H6566 it over ^H5921 his face ^H6440, so that he died ^H4191. Another Jehoram Reigns in Judah

16 Now in the fifth ^H2568 year ^H8141 of Joram ^H3141 the son ^H1121 of Ahab ^H256 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478, when Jehoshaphat ^H3092 was the king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063, Jehoram ^H3088 the son ^H1121 of Jehoshaphat ^H3092 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 became ^H4427 king ^H4427.

Ahaziah Succeeds Jehoram in Judah

25 In the twelfth ^H8147 H6240 year ^H8141 of Joram ^H3141 the son ^H1121 of Ahab ^H256 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478, Ahaziah ^H274 the son ^H1121 of Jehoram ^H3088 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 began to reign ^H4427. 26 Ahaziah ^H274 was twenty-two ^H6242 H8147 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he became ^H4427 king ^H4427, and he reigned ^H4427 for one ^H259 year ^H8141 in Jerusalem ^H3389. And his mother’s ^H517 name ^H8034 was Athaliah ^H6271 the granddaughter ^H1323 of Omri ^H6018 king ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478. 27 He walked ^H1980 in the way ^H1870 of the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256 and did ^H6213 evil ^H7451 in the sight ^H5869 of the LORD ^H3068, like the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256, because ^H3588 he was a son-in-law ^H2860 of the house ^H1004 of Ahab ^H256.

28 Then he went ^H1980 with Joram ^H3141 the son ^H1121 of Ahab ^H256 to war ^H4421 against ^H5973 Hazael ^H2371 king ^H4428 of Aram ^H758 at Ramoth-gilead ^H7433, and the Arameans ^H761 [fn]wounded ^H5221 Joram ^H3141. 29 So King ^H4428 Joram ^H3141 returned ^H7725 to have himself healed ^H7495 in Jezreel ^H3157 of the wounds ^H4347 which ^H834 the Arameans ^H761 had [fn]inflicted ^H5221 on him at Ramah ^H7414 when he fought ^H3898 against ^H854 Hazael ^H2371 king ^H4428 of Aram ^H758. Then Ahaziah ^H274 the son ^H1121 of Jehoram ^H3088 king ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 went ^H3381 down ^H3381 to see ^H7200 Joram ^H3141 the son ^H1121 of Ahab ^H256 in Jezreel ^H3157 because ^H3588 he was ^H2470 sick ^H2470.
