Liberation from Captivity Promised

1 The word ^H1697 that came ^H1961 to Jeremiah ^H3414 from the LORD ^H3068, saying ^H559,

2 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 says ^H559: ‘Write ^H3789 all ^H3605 the words ^H1697 which ^H834 I have spoken ^H1696 to you in a book ^H5612. 3 For behold ^H2009, days ^H3117 are coming ^H935,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘when I will restore ^H7725 the fortunes ^H7622 of My people ^H5971 Israel ^H3478 and Judah ^H3063.’ The LORD ^H3068 says ^H559, ‘I will also bring ^H7725 them back ^H7725 to the land ^H776 that I gave ^H5414 to their forefathers ^H1, and they shall take ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of it.’”

4 Now these ^H428 are the words ^H1697 which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 concerning ^H413 Israel ^H3478 and Judah ^H3063:

5 “For this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559:

‘[fn]I have heard ^H8085 a sound ^H6963 of terror ^H2731,

Of fear ^H6343, and there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 peace ^H7965.

6 ‘Ask ^H7592 now ^H4994, and see ^H7200

If ^H518 a male ^H2145 can give ^H3205 birth ^H3205.

Why ^H4069 do I see ^H7200 every ^H3605 man ^H1397

With his hands ^H3027 on his waist ^H2504, as a woman in ^H3205 childbirth ^H3205?

And why have all ^H3605 faces ^H6440 turned ^H2015 pale ^H3420?

7 ‘Woe ^H1945, for that day ^H3117 is great ^H1419,

There ^H369 is ^H369 none ^H369 like ^H3644 it;

And it is the time ^H6256 of Jacob’s ^H3290 distress ^H6869,

Yet he will be saved ^H3467 from it.

8 ‘It shall come ^H1961 about ^H1961 on that day ^H3117,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, ‘that I will break ^H7665 his yoke ^H5923 from [fn]their necks ^H6677 and will tear ^H5423 to ^H5423 pieces ^H5423 [fn]their restraints ^H4147; and strangers ^H2114 will no ^H3808 longer ^H5750 make ^H5647 [fn]them their slaves ^H5647. 9 But they shall serve ^H5647 the LORD ^H3068 their God ^H430 and David ^H1732 their king ^H4428, whom ^H834 I will raise ^H6965 up ^H6965 for them.

10 ‘And do not fear ^H3372, Jacob ^H3290 My servant ^H5650,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068,

‘And do not be dismayed ^H2865, Israel ^H3478;

For behold ^H2009, I am going to save ^H3467 you from far ^H7350 away ^H7350,

And your [fn]descendants ^H2233 from the land ^H776 of their captivity ^H7628.

And Jacob ^H3290 will return ^H7725 and be ^H8252 at ^H8252 peace ^H8252, without ^H7599 anxiety ^H7599,

And no ^H369 one ^H369 will make ^H2729 him afraid ^H2729.

11 ‘For I am with you,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘to save ^H3467 you;

For I will completely ^H3617 destroy ^H6213 H3617 all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471 where ^H834 H8033 I have scattered ^H6327 you,

Only ^H389 I will not destroy ^H6213 H3617 you completely ^H3617.

But I will discipline ^H3256 you fairly ^H4941

And will by ^H5352 no ^H3808 means ^H5352 leave ^H5352 you unpunished ^H5352.’

12 “For this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559:

‘Your broken ^H4347 limb is irreparable ^H605,

And your wound ^H4347 is incurable ^H2470.

13 ‘There ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 to plead ^H1777 your cause ^H1779;

No healing ^H7499 for your sore ^H4205,

No ^H369 recovery ^H8585 for you.

14 ‘All ^H3605 your lovers ^H157 have forgotten ^H7911 you,

They do not seek ^H1875 you;

For I have wounded ^H5221 you with the wound ^H4347 of an enemy ^H340,

With the punishment ^H4148 of a cruel ^H394 one ^H394,

Because ^H5921 your wrongdoing ^H5771 is great ^H7230,

And your sins ^H2403 are ^H6105 numerous ^H6105.

15 ‘Why ^H4100 do you cry ^H2199 out ^H2199 over ^H5921 your injury ^H7667?

Your pain ^H4341 is incurable ^H605.

Because ^H5921 your wrongdoing ^H5771 is great ^H7230

And your sins ^H2403 are ^H6105 numerous ^H6105,

I have done ^H6213 these ^H428 things ^H428 to you.

16 ‘Therefore ^H3651 all ^H3605 who devour ^H398 you will be devoured ^H398;

And all ^H3605 your adversaries ^H6862, every ^H3605 one ^H3605 of them, will go ^H1980 into captivity ^H7628;

And those who plunder ^H8155 you will become ^H1961 plunder ^H4933,

And all ^H3605 who plunder ^H962 you I will turn ^H5414 into plunder ^H957.

17 ‘For I will [fn]restore ^H5927 you to [fn]health ^H724

And I will heal ^H7495 you of your wounds ^H4347,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068,

‘Because ^H3588 they have called ^H7121 you an outcast ^H5080, saying:

“It is Zion ^H6726; no ^H369 one ^H369 [fn]cares ^H1875 for her.”’

Restoration of Jacob

18 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559:

‘Behold ^H2009, I will restore ^H7725 the fortunes ^H7622 of the tents ^H168 of Jacob ^H3290

And have ^H7355 compassion ^H7355 on ^H7355 his dwellings ^H4908;

And the city ^H5892 will be rebuilt ^H1129 on its ruins ^H8510,

And the palace ^H759 will stand ^H3427 on its rightful ^H4941 place ^H4941.

19 ‘From them will come ^H3318 a song ^H8426 of ^H8426 thanksgiving ^H8426

And the voices ^H6963 of those who [fn]celebrate ^H7832;

And I will multiply ^H7235 them and they will not decrease ^H4591;

I will honor ^H3513 them and they will not be insignificant ^H6819.

20 ‘[fn]Their children ^H1121 also will be as before ^H6924,

And [fn]their congregation ^H5712 will be established ^H3559 before ^H6440 Me;

And I will punish ^H6485 all ^H3605 [fn]their oppressors ^H3905.

21 ‘[fn]Their leader ^H117 shall be one of them,

And [fn]their ruler ^H4910 will come ^H3318 out ^H3318 from [fn]their midst ^H7130;

And I will bring ^H7126 him near ^H7126 and he shall approach ^H5066 Me;

For [fn]who ^H4310 would dare ^H6148 to ^H6148 risk ^H6148 his life ^H3820 to approach ^H5066 Me?’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068.

22 ‘You shall be My people ^H5971,

And I will be your God ^H430.’”

23 Behold ^H2009, the tempest ^H5591 of the LORD ^H3068!

Wrath ^H2534 has gone ^H3318 forth ^H3318,

A [fn]sweeping ^H1641 tempest ^H5591;

It will whirl ^H2342 upon the head ^H7218 of the wicked ^H7563.

24 The fierce ^H2740 anger ^H639 of the LORD ^H3068 will not turn ^H7725 back ^H7725

Until ^H5704 He has performed ^H6213 and accomplished ^H6965

The intent ^H4209 of His heart ^H3820.

In the latter ^H319 days ^H3117 you will understand ^H995 this.
