Prophecy against Moab

1 Concerning Moab ^H4124. This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 says ^H559:

“Woe ^H1945 to Nebo ^H5015, for it has been destroyed ^H7703;

Kiriathaim ^H7156 has been put ^H954 to ^H954 shame ^H954, it has been captured ^H3920;

The high ^H4869 stronghold ^H4869 has been put ^H954 to ^H954 shame ^H954 and [fn]shattered ^H2865.

2 “There ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 longer ^H5750 praise ^H8416 for Moab ^H4124;

In Heshbon ^H2809 they have devised ^H2803 disaster ^H7451 against ^H5921 her:

‘Come ^H1980 and let’s cut ^H3772 her off ^H3772 from being a nation ^H1471!’

You too ^H1571, [fn]Madmen ^H4086, will be silenced ^H1826;

The sword ^H2719 will follow ^H310 H1980 you.

3 “The sound ^H6963 of an outcry ^H6818 from Horonaim ^H2773,

‘Devastation ^H7701 and great ^H1419 destruction ^H7667!’

4 “Moab ^H4124 is broken ^H7665,

Her little ^H6810 ones ^H6810 have sounded ^H8085 out ^H8085 a cry ^H2201 of distress.

5 “For they will go ^H5927 up ^H5927 by the ascent ^H4608 of Luhith ^H3872

6 “Flee ^H5127, save ^H4422 yourselves ^H5315,

So that you may be like a juniper ^H6176 in the wilderness ^H4057.

7 “For because ^H3282 of your trust ^H982 in your own achievements ^H4639 and treasures ^H214,

You yourself ^H859 will also ^H1571 be captured ^H3920;

And Chemosh ^H3645 will go ^H3318 off ^H3318 into exile ^H1473

10 “Cursed ^H779 is the one who does ^H6213 the LORD’S ^H3068 work ^H4399 negligently ^H7423,

And cursed ^H779 is the one who restrains ^H4513 his sword ^H2719 from blood ^H1818.

11 “Moab ^H4124 has been ^H7599 at ^H7599 ease ^H7599 since ^H4480 his youth ^H5271;

He has also been ^H8252 peaceful ^H8252, like wine on [fn]its dregs ^H8105,

And he has not been poured ^H7324 from vessel ^H3627 to vessel ^H3627,

15 “Moab ^H4124 has been destroyed ^H7703 and [fn]men have gone ^H5927 up ^H5927 to [fn]his cities ^H5892;

His choicest ^H4005 [fn]young ^H970 men ^H970 have also gone ^H3381 down ^H3381 to the slaughter ^H2874,”

Declares ^H5002 the King ^H4428, whose name ^H8034 is the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635.

16 “The disaster ^H343 of Moab ^H4124 will soon ^H7138 come ^H935,

And his catastrophe ^H7451 has hurried ^H3966 quickly ^H4116.

17 “Mourn ^H5110 for him, all ^H3605 you who live around ^H5439 him,

And all ^H3605 of you who know ^H3045 his name ^H8034;

He has ruined ^H7843 your strongholds ^H4013.

19 “Stand ^H5975 by the road ^H1870 and keep ^H6822 watch ^H6822,

You inhabitant ^H3427 of Aroer ^H6177;

Ask ^H7592 him who flees ^H5127 and her who escapes ^H4422

And be like a dove ^H3123 that nests ^H7077

Beyond ^H5676 the mouth ^H6310 of the chasm ^H6354.

29 “We have heard ^H8085 of the pride ^H1347 of Moab ^H4124—he is very ^H3966 proud ^H1343—

Of his haughtiness ^H7312, his pride ^H1347, his arrogance ^H1346, and [fn]his self-exaltation ^H3820 H7312.

Your tendrils ^H5189 stretched ^H5674 across ^H5674 the sea ^H3220,

They reached ^H5060 to the sea ^H3220 of Jazer ^H3270;

Upon your summer ^H7019 fruits ^H7019 and your grape ^H1210 harvest ^H1210

The destroyer ^H7703 has fallen ^H5307.

33 “So joy ^H8057 and rejoicing ^H1524 are removed ^H622

From the fruitful ^H3759 field ^H3759, and from the land ^H776 of Moab ^H4124.

42 “Moab ^H4124 will be destroyed ^H8045 from being a people ^H5971

43 “Terror ^H6343, pit ^H6354, and snare ^H6341 are coming upon you,

Will fall ^H5307 into the pit ^H6354,

The year ^H8141 of their punishment ^H6486,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068.

45 “In the shadow ^H6738 of Heshbon ^H2809

The fugitives ^H5127 stand ^H5975 without ^H4480 strength ^H3581;

For a fire ^H784 has spread ^H3318 out ^H3318 from Heshbon ^H2809

And a flame ^H3852 from the midst ^H996 of Sihon ^H5511,

And it has devoured ^H398 the forehead ^H6285 of Moab ^H4124

And the scalps ^H6936 of the [fn]loud ^H7588 revelers ^H1121.

46 “Woe ^H188 to you, Moab ^H4124!

The people ^H5971 of Chemosh ^H3645 have perished ^H6;

For your sons ^H1121 have been taken ^H3947 away captive ^H7628,

And your daughters ^H1323 into captivity ^H7633.

47 “Yet I will restore ^H7725 the fortunes ^H7622 of Moab ^H4124

In the [fn]latter ^H319 days ^H3117,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068.

This ^H2008 is the extent ^H5704 of the judgment ^H4941 on Moab ^H4124.
