Rulers Denounced
1 And I said H559,

And rulers H7101 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478:
Is it not for you to know H3045 justice H4941?
2 “You who hate H8130 good H2896 and love H157 evil H7451,
Who tear H1497 off H1497 their skin H5785 from them
And their flesh H7607 from their bones H6106,
3 Who H834 eat H398 the flesh H7607 of my people H5971,
Strip H6584 off H6584 their skin H5785 from them,
Smash H6476 their bones H6106,
And chop H6566 them up H6566 as for the pot H5518,
And as meat H1320 in a cauldron H7037!”
4 Then H227 they will cry H2199 out H2199 to the LORD H3068,
But He will not answer H6030 them.
Instead, He will hide H5641 His face H6440 from them at that time H6256
Because H834 they have practiced H7489 evil H7489 deeds H4611.
5 This H3541 is H3541 what H3541 the LORD H3068 says H559 concerning H5921 the prophets H5030 who lead H8582 my people H5971 astray H8582:
When they have something to bite H5391 with their teeth H8127,
They cry H7121 out H7121, “Peace H7965!”
But against H5921 him who H834 puts H5414 nothing H3808 in their mouths H6310
They declare H6942 holy H6942 war H4421.
6 Therefore H3651 it will be night H3915 for you—without H4480 vision H2377,
And darkness H2825 for you—without H4480 divination H7080.
The sun H8121 will go H935 down on the prophets H5030,
And the day H3117 will become H6937 dark H6937 over H5921 them.
7 The seers H2374 will be put H954 to H954 shame H954,

11 Her leaders H7218 pronounce H8199 judgment H8199 for a bribe H7810,
Her priests H3548 teach H3384 for pay H4242,
And her prophets H5030 divine H7080 for money H3701.
Yet they lean H8172 on the LORD H3068, saying H559,
“Is the LORD H3068 not in our midst H7130?
Catastrophe H7451 will not come H935 upon us.”
12 Therefore H3651 on account H1558 of you,
Zion H6726 will be plowed H2790 like a field H7704,
Jerusalem H3389 will become H1961 a heap H5856 of H5856 ruins H5856,
And the mountain H2022 of the [fn]temple H1004 will become high H1116 places H1116 of a forest H3293.
