The Passover

1 Now the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872 in the wilderness ^H4057 of Sinai ^H5514, in the first ^H7223 month ^H2320 of the second ^H8145 year ^H8141 after they had come ^H3318 out ^H3318 of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714, saying ^H559,

2 “Now the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 are to [fn]celebrate ^H6213 the Passover ^H6453 at its appointed ^H4150 time ^H4150. 3 On the fourteenth ^H702 H6240 day ^H3117 of this ^H2088 month ^H2320, [fn]at twilight ^H6153, you shall celebrate ^H6213 it at its appointed ^H4150 time ^H4150; you shall celebrate ^H6213 it in accordance with all ^H3605 its statutes ^H2708 and all ^H3605 its ordinances ^H4941.” 4 So Moses ^H4872 [fn]told ^H1696 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 to celebrate ^H6213 the Passover ^H6453. 5 And they celebrated ^H6213 the Passover ^H6453 in the first ^H7223 month, on the fourteenth ^H702 H6240 day ^H3117 of the month ^H2320, at twilight ^H6153, in the wilderness ^H4057 of Sinai ^H5514; in accordance with everything ^H3605 that the LORD ^H3068 had commanded ^H6680 Moses ^H4872, so ^H3651 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 did ^H6213. 6 But there were some men ^H376 who ^H834 were unclean ^H2931 because of contact with a [fn]dead ^H5315 person ^H5315, so that they could ^H3201 not celebrate ^H6213 Passover ^H6453 on that day ^H3117; and they came ^H7126 before ^H6440 Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 on that day ^H3117. 7 Those ^H1992 men ^H376 said ^H559 to him, “Though we are unclean ^H2931 because of a [fn]dead ^H5315 person ^H5315, why ^H4100 are we kept ^H1639 from presenting ^H7126 the offering ^H7133 of the LORD ^H3068 at its appointed ^H4150 time ^H4150 among ^H8432 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478?” 8 Moses ^H4872 then said ^H559 to them, “[fn]Wait ^H5975, and I will listen ^H8085 to what ^H4100 the LORD ^H3068 will command ^H6680 concerning you.”

9 Then the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559, 10 “Speak ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, saying ^H559, ‘If ^H3588 any ^H376 one ^H376 of you or ^H176 of your generations ^H1755 becomes ^H1961 unclean ^H2931 because of a dead [fn]person ^H5315, or ^H176 is on a distant ^H7350 journey ^H1870, he may, however, celebrate ^H6213 the Passover ^H6453 to the LORD ^H3068. 11 In the second ^H8145 month ^H2320 on the fourteenth ^H702 H6240 day ^H3117 at twilight ^H6153, they shall celebrate ^H6213 it; they shall eat ^H398 it with unleavened ^H4682 bread ^H4682 and bitter ^H4844 herbs ^H4844. 12 They shall not leave ^H7604 any of it until ^H5704 morning ^H1242, nor ^H3808 break ^H7665 a bone ^H6106 of it; they shall celebrate ^H6213 it in accordance with the whole ^H3605 statute ^H2708 of the Passover ^H6453. 13 But the person ^H376 who ^H834 is clean ^H2889 and is not on a journey ^H1870, yet refrains ^H2308 from celebrating ^H6213 the Passover ^H6453, that [fn]person ^H5315 shall then be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from his people ^H5971, because ^H3588 he did not present ^H7126 the offering ^H7133 of the LORD ^H3068 at its appointed ^H4150 time ^H4150. That person ^H376 will bear ^H5375 the responsibility for his sin ^H2399. 14 And if ^H3588 a stranger ^H1616 resides ^H1481 among ^H854 you and [fn]celebrates ^H6213 the Passover ^H6453 to the LORD ^H3068, according to the statute ^H2708 of the Passover ^H6453 and its ordinance ^H4941, so ^H3651 he shall celebrate ^H6213 it; you shall have ^H1961 [fn]the same ^H259 statute ^H2708, both for the stranger ^H1616 and for the native ^H249 of the land ^H776.’”

The Cloud on the Tabernacle

15 Now on the day ^H3117 that the tabernacle ^H4908 was erected ^H6965, the cloud ^H6051 covered ^H3680 the tabernacle ^H4908, the tent ^H168 of the testimony ^H5715, and in the evening ^H6153 it was like the appearance ^H4758 of fire ^H784 over ^H5921 the tabernacle ^H4908 until ^H5704 morning ^H1242.

16 That ^H3651 is ^H3651 how ^H3651 it was continuously ^H8548; the cloud ^H6051 would cover ^H3680 it by day, and the appearance ^H4758 of fire ^H784 by night ^H3915. 17 Whenever ^H6310 the cloud ^H6051 was lifted ^H5927 from over ^H5921 the tent ^H168, afterward ^H310 H3651 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 would set ^H5265 out ^H5265; and in the place ^H4725 where ^H834 H8033 the cloud ^H6051 settled ^H7931 down ^H7931, there ^H8033 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 would camp ^H2583. 18 At the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 would set ^H5265 out ^H5265, and at the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 they would camp ^H2583; as ^H3605 H3117 long ^H3605 H3117 as the cloud ^H6051 settled ^H7931 over ^H5921 the tabernacle ^H4908, they remained ^H2583 camped ^H2583. 19 Even when the cloud ^H6051 lingered ^H748 over ^H5921 the tabernacle ^H4908 for many ^H7227 days ^H3117, [fn]the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 would comply ^H8104 with ^H8104 the LORD’S ^H3068 ordinance ^H4931 and not set ^H5265 out ^H5265. 20 If [fn]sometimes ^H3426 the cloud ^H6051 remained ^H1961 a few ^H4557 days ^H3117 over ^H5921 the tabernacle ^H4908, in ^H5921 accordance ^H5921 with ^H5921 the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 they remained ^H2583 camped ^H2583. Then in ^H5921 accordance ^H5921 with ^H5921 the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 they set ^H5265 out ^H5265. 21 If [fn]sometimes ^H3426 the cloud ^H6051 [fn]remained ^H1961 from evening ^H6153 until ^H5704 morning ^H1242, when the cloud ^H6051 was lifted ^H5927 in the morning ^H1242 they would set ^H5265 out ^H5265; or ^H176 if it remained in the daytime ^H3119 and at night ^H3915, whenever the cloud ^H6051 was lifted ^H5927, they would set ^H5265 out ^H5265. 22 Whether ^H176 it was two days ^H3117, a month ^H2320, or ^H176 a year ^H3117 that the cloud ^H6051 lingered ^H748 over ^H5921 the tabernacle ^H4908, staying ^H7931 above ^H5921 it, the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 remained ^H2583 camped ^H2583 and did not set ^H5265 out ^H5265; but when it was lifted ^H5927, they did set ^H5265 out ^H5265. 23 At the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 they camped ^H2583, and at the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 they set ^H5265 out ^H5265; they did ^H8104 what ^H4931 the LORD ^H3068 required ^H4931, in ^H5921 accordance ^H5921 with ^H5921 the [fn]command ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 through ^H3027 Moses ^H4872.
