Boaz Will Redeem Ruth
1 Then her mother-in-law H2545 Naomi H5281 said H559 to her, “My daughter H1323, shall I not seek H1245 [fn]security H4494 for you, that it may go H3190 well H3190 for you?
2 Now H6258 then, is Boaz H1162 not our relative H4130, with whose H834 young H5291 women H5291 you were? Behold H2009, he is winnowing H2219 barley H8184 at the threshing H1637 floor H1637 tonight H3915. 3 Wash H7364 yourself therefore, and anoint H5480 yourself, and put H7760 on your best clothes H8071, and go H3381 down H3381 to the threshing H1637 floor H1637; but do not reveal H3045 yourself to the man H376 until H5704 he has finished H3615 eating H398 and drinking H8354. 4 And it shall be when he lies H7901 down H7901, that you shall [fn]take H3045 notice H3045 of the place H4725 where H834 H8033 he lies H7901, and you shall go H935 and uncover H1540 his feet H4772 and lie H7901 down H7901; then he will tell H5046 you what H834 you should do H6213.” 5 And she said H559 to her, “All H3605 that you say H559 I will do H6213.”
6 So she went H3381 down H3381 to the threshing H1637 floor H1637 and did H6213 according to all H3605 that her mother-in-law H2545 had commanded H6680 her. 7 When Boaz H1162 had eaten H398 and drunk H8354 and his heart H3820 was H3190 cheerful H3190, he went H935 to lie H7901 down H7901 at the end H7097 of the heap H6194 of H6194 grain H6194; and she came H935 secretly H3909, and uncovered H1540 his feet H4772 and lay H7901 down H7901. 8 And it happened H1961 in the middle H2677 of the night H3915 that the man H376 was startled H2729 and [fn]bent H3943 forward H3943; and behold H2009, a woman H802 was lying H7901 at his feet H4772. 9 So he said H559, “Who H4310 are you?” And she answered H559, “I am Ruth H7327 your slave H519. Now spread H6566 your garment H3671 over H5921 your slave H519, for you are a redeemer H1350.” 10 Then he said H559, “May you be blessed H1288 of the LORD H3068, my daughter H1323. You have shown H3190 your last H314 kindness H2617 to be better H3190 than H4480 the first H7223, by not going H1980 after H310 young H970 men H970, whether H518 poor H1800 or H518 rich H6223. 11 So now H6258, my daughter H1323, do not fear H3372. I will do H6213 for you whatever H3605 H834 you say H559, for all H3605 [fn]my people H5971 in the city H8179 know H3045 that you are a woman H802 of excellence H2428. 12 But now H6258, although H3588 it is true H551 that I am a redeemer H1350, yet there H3426 is H3426 also H1571 a redeemer H1350 more H4480 closely H7138 related H7138 than H4480 I. 13 Remain H3885 this night H3915, and when morning H1242 comes H1961, if H518 he will [fn]redeem H1350 you, good H2896; let him redeem H1350 you. But if H518 he does not wish H2654 to [fn]redeem H1350 you, then I will redeem H1350 you, as the LORD H3068 lives H2416. Lie H7901 down H7901 until H5704 morning H1242.”
14 So she lay H7901 at his feet H4772 until H5704 morning H1242, and got H6965 up H6965 before H2962 one H376 person H376 could recognize H5234 another H7453; and he said H559, “Do not let it be known H3045 that the woman H802 came H935 to the threshing H1637 floor H1637.” 15 Again he said H559, “Give H3051 me the shawl H4304 that is on you and hold H270 it.” So she held H270 it, and he measured H4058 six H8337 measures of barley H8184 and laid H7896 it on her. Then [fn]she went H935 into the city H5892. 16 When she came H935 to her mother-in-law H2545, she said H559, “[fn]How H4310 did it go, my daughter H1323?” And she told H5046 her all H3605 that the man H376 had done H6213 for her. 17 She also said H559, “These H428 six H8337 measures of barley H8184 he gave H5414 to me, for he said H559, ‘Do not go H935 to your mother-in-law H2545 empty-handed H7387.’” 18 Then she said H559, “Wait H3427, my daughter H1323, until H5704 H834 you know H3045 how H349 the matter H1697 [fn]turns H5307 out H5307; for the man H376 will not rest H8252 until H3588 H518 he has [fn]settled H3615 it today H3117.”
