Blue Letter Bible is privileged to present a digital edition of Thomas Goodwin’s Christ Set Forth. This book was originally published in 1642, as an exposition of Romans 8:34.
“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Romans 8:34)
Herein Goodwin states,
We owe our standing in grace every moment to his sitting in heaven and interceding every moment. (Section 5 :: Chapter 3)
This quote reflects a small glimpse at Goodwin“s heartfelt understanding of our human depravity and God’s sovereign grace. In what could be considered a classic work, Goodwin exalts the glory of Christ our Redeemer, while encouraging us to fight the battle against personal sin. Through his exposition of Scripture, he clearly asserts the sufficiency and supremacy of Christ, while ascribing the joy that ought to be to all believers. This timeless work is certain to provoke meaningful reflection and true thanksgiving, as the reader joins Goodwin in seeing Christ set forth.
We highly value the spiritual content of writings from the saints who have gone before us, and it is a privilege to be able to offer enhanced digital versions to our users. Converting an original book into digital format requires extensive work, including scanning the original book, editing the scanned pages, and capturing characters. We then thoroughly proofread and carefully edit the document to improve the readability of ancient publications. Our digital books may receive the following features:

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
