Burnt (Offering):
denotes "a whole burnt offering" (holos, "whole," kautos, for kaustos, a verbal adjective from kaio, "to burn"), i.e., "a victim," the whole of which is burned, as in Exd 30:20; Lev 5:12; 23:8, 25, 27. It is used in Mar 12:33, by the scribe who questioned the Lord as to the first commandment in the Law, and in Hbr 10:6, 8, RV, "whole burnt offerings."
See OFFERING.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
