Black:
properly the absence of all colour. In Pro 7:9 the Hebrew word means, as in the margin of the Revised Version, "the pupil of the eye." It is translated "apple" of the eye in Deu 32:10; Psa 17:8; Pro 7:2. It is a different word which is rendered "black" in Lev 13:31,37; Sgs 1:5; 5:11; and Zec 6:2, 6. It is uncertain what the "black marble" of Est 1:6 was which formed a part of the mosaic pavement.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
