Door-Posts:
The Jews were commanded to write the divine name on the posts (mezuzoth') of their doors (Deu 6:9). The Jews, misunderstanding this injunction, adopted the custom of writing on a slip of parchment these verses (Deu 6:4-9, and 11:13-21), which they enclosed in a reed or cylinder and fixed on the right-hand door-post of every room in the house.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
