Fan:

a winnowing shovel by which grain was thrown up against the wind that it might be cleansed from broken straw and chaff (Isa 30:24; Jer 15:7; Mat 3:12). (See AGRICULTURE.)

King James Dictionary

Fan: An Agricultural Tool; Winnowing Shovel.

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose FAN is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Fan:

Smith's Bible Dictionary

Fan:

a winnowing‐shovel, with which grain was thrown up against the wind to be cleansed from the chaff and straw (Isaiah 30:24; Matthew 3:12). A large wooden fork is used at the present day.
