Haggai, Book Of:
consists of two brief, comprehensive chapters. The object of the prophet was generally to urge the people to proceed with the rebuilding of the temple.
Chapter first comprehends the first address (Hag 2-11) and its effects (Hag 12-15). Chapter second contains,
(1.) The second prophecy (Hag 1-9), which was delivered a month after the first.
(2.) The third prophecy (Hag 10-19), delivered two months and three days after the second; and
(3.) The fourth prophecy (Hag 20-23), delivered on the same day as the third.
These discourses are referred to in Ezr 5:1; 6:14; Heb. 12:26. (Hag 2:7,8, 22.)
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
