Hireling:
a labourer employed on hire for a limited time (Job 7:1; 14:6; Mar 1:20). His wages were paid as soon as his work was over (Lev 19:13). In the time of our Lord a day's wage was a "penny" (q.v.) i.e., a Roman denarius (Mat 20:1-14).
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
