Tirshatha:
a word probably of Persian origin, meaning "severity," denoting a high civil dignity. The Persian governor of Judea is so called (Ezr 2:63; Neh 7:65,70). Nehemiah is called by this name in Neh 8:9; 10:1, and the "governor" (pehah) in Neh 5:18. Probably, therefore, tirshatha=pehah=the modern pasha.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
